Presenting a little video of the design and branding for the ILGA-Europe Annual Conference, which took place in Bucharest this year. It was a joy to work with Romanian designer Vadim Carazan of Wegrow to bring this to fruition. Vadim responded to our theme, The Call to Courage, and our brief to make our logo vibrantly representative of the huge range of activists in attendance, by placing the Romanian word for courage, 'curaj' front and centre. The results are both beautiful and memorable. As Vadim says: “The design of our logo reflects the essence of ‘curaj’ in its simplicity and strength. Each letter varies in shape and style, symbolising the rich diversity within the LGBTI community – you can be a ‘C’, or a ‘U’, or any other shape and letter! The design celebrates quirkiness, individuality, and the spectrum of experiences that make our community unique. This playful yet meaningful approach represents the importance of embracing one’s identity and self-expression." I couldn't agree more. The word ‘curaj’ is deeply rooted in Romanian culture, its message of courage resonates universally within the #LGBTI movement. It embodies our shared experiences – standing up for our human rights, embracing authenticity, and nurturing a culture of inclusivity. By centering this word in our branding, we not only honoured the local context in Romania, but also highlighted ILGA-Europe's commitment to making connections and empowering activists in all our work, and especially at our conference every year. Here's to the 2025 Annual Conference in Vilnus next October! #communications #design #branding #PR #graphicdesign #activism

The Annual ILGA-Europe Conference, the largest LGBTI conference in Europe, took place over the past few days in Bucharest. More than 400 LGBTI activists from across Europe and Central Asia gathered here. The conference was organized by ILGA-Europe, the largest pan-European LGBTI federation, and co-organized by MozaiQ and Asociația ACCEPT, LGBTI organizations from Romania. This year's theme was COURAGE (CURAJ), reflecting the need for constant and fearless commitment in the fight for human rights and equality. The event aimed to address the issues facing the LGBTI community in Europe, allowing international activists to exchange experiences and discuss important topics for this movement at the European level. The event also served as a crucial opportunity to strengthen solidarity and collaboration among LGBTI organizations in the region, in the context of rising conservative and populist movements in several European countries. We enjoyed dozens of workshops covering all areas of LGBTI activism, as well as fun evenings with parties, films, and karaoke, which helped us connect with each other. We passed on the baton (or rather, the flag), and we look forward to seeing each other again next year in Lithuania. With great COURAGE, we will succeed in making the world a better, more inclusive, and more colorful place.

My main take away from the ILGA-Europe conference this year? Politics is shifting and there are many threats and unknown at the moment. But human rights have allies in many places and we have over years created the trust to work together strategically. Both panels I moderated, on LGBTI rights in Romania as well as a discussion with between activist from Poland and Bulgaria with Irena Moozova and Beatrice Fresko-Rolfo were open and honest exchanges about the challenges, limitations and growing urgency to act and how we can continue to find the Courage and Strength together to counter the backlash and resist the attempts to dismantle the human rights framework and democracy.

Organisational Development Program Coordinator at GENDERDOC-M / expert in narrative and audiovisual tools / 🎥 filmmaker/📚 trainer/ 🌈LGBTQ+ activist

I rarely write here about the many conferences and events I attend. I think it's time to give importance and to display my invisible work. From now on I'll try. From October 16-19, I attended the annual ILGA- Europe Conference held in Bucharest, which brought together 430 participants from 185 LGBT organizations from all over Europe. Together with Albina Ciuprin, Program Coordinator of Community Development, we had more than 30 bilateral meetings with donors and partners during the conference, strengthening collaboration and support for the GENDERDOC-M Information Center mission. As part of the Eastern European Coalition for LGBT Rights, I took part in a panel dedicated to the political situation in the region and funding models for NGOs. I also represented GENDERERDOC-M in a closed meeting with Beatrice Fresko-Rolfo, General Rapporteur on LGBTI Rights at PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe), where I've stressed the importance of protecting the rights of transgender people in Moldova. We have a lot of work ahead of us and it is important to bring awareness every single day to our partners about the struggles the community faces on the ground.
