As someone who has been a longstanding champion of interoperability, I have always recognized IHE Connectathons as being one of the most internationally significant health IT interoperability technical testing events in the industry. With a rich history of fostering collaboration and celebrating innovation, IHE Connectathon Week extends this concept and is an unparalleled opportunity to connect with technical experts and health IT leaders from around the globe. This year, for the first time ever, I’m thrilled to share that we are bringing this legacy to downtown Toronto. To top it off, I’m beyond proud that Infoway will be hosting the 2025 IHE North America Connectathon Week, organized in partnership with IHE USA and IHE Canada, with support from IHE Catalyst, IHE International, HIMSS, and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). For the health IT developers and implementers, the 2025 IHE North America Connectathon Week will hold a Continuum of Testing where attendees will have an opportunity to collaborate and test their health IT solutions during the IHE Connectathon, the Pan-Canadian Projectathon, and new this year, the IHE Plugathon components of the event. We will also provide an opportunity for attendees to learn more about global interoperability initiatives and pan-Canadian digital health innovations through our Experience Days, similar to conference-style presentations and masterclass education sessions. The countdown for the 8th edition of EPR-Projectathon has started.  It will take place in Bern🇨🇭from 16th-20th September 2024.  This year’s special focus will be on:  - the connection of image archives, exchange formats, such as the new laboratory report, and  - the connection of primary systems via FHIR interfaces. AGFA HealthCare have once again participated to the IHE Europe Connectathon which took place in Trieste June 3 to 7 2024. And we are proud to be the first company in the world together with Rad AI to have tested the brand new Integrated Reporting Applications (IRA) profile using Enterprise Imaging. This profile, still in trial implementation, helps applications that are used together during reporting (e.g., image display, report creator, clinical applications, AI tools, etc.) to share information using FHIRcast and FHIR Standards. Each application can share what it is doing and the data it is creating, referred to as Context and Content, respectively. Other applications are notified so they can then intelligently synchronize their behavior or use the new data. Beside the IRA profile, Enterprise Imaging have successfully tested the Web-based Image Access (WIA) profile with multiple systems belonging to various companies. The WIA Profile defines methods for image sharing and interactive viewing of imaging studies using DICOM RESTful services such as WADO-RS and QIDO-RS. The main purpose of the IHE Connectathon event is to host the annual face-to-face #interoperability testing session between systems of the participating companies, who follow the IHE profiles specifications as published in the #IHE Technical Framework. This event gives developers the opportunity to test in a controlled, supervised and neutral environment with multiple real systems. More than 60 systems belonging to 48 companies coming from Various different countries were tested during this week. Great work from #TeamAGFA! At the end of Day 4, Thursday there were 2261 Test Runs logged with 1720 Verified as passed. These results compare very favourably with previous years. As the 2024 IHE-Europe Connectathon in Trieste comes to a close thoughts move to the 2025 event that will take place in Vienna, capital of Austria that hugs the banks of the famous Danube River, 23-27 June 2025, and is home to the annual ECR Conference.  It is a very appropriate choice given the rich heritage they bought to the 2024 host city of Trieste, and the 2025 IHE-Europe Connectathon Committee is already beginning its Connectathon Week plans. Once again interoperability experts and vendors large and small will work together to test and resolve issues enabling the healthcare market to receive fine tuned, ready to run installations for the benefit of enhanced patient care across all countries. Connectathon WEEK will see an array of parallel events, including the acclaimed IHE-Europe Experience Days - so check the IHE-Europe Connectathon website frequently to keep up to date with everything and book Vienna early.
