FEAD is the voice of Europe's private resource and waste management industry. We promote the circular economy.

About us

FEAD is the voice of Europe's private waste and resource management industry across Europe. FEAD’s members are national waste management associations covering 16 Member States, Norway and the UK. Our companies play a key role in the transition to a circular economy by producing resources which can be re-injected in the economy and by supplying energy. They add value through innovative and cost-efficient collection, sorting, and recycling of secondary raw materials. In doing so, they play a key role in achieving the best economic and environmental outcomes. FEAD members represent about 3,000 companies with activities in all forms of waste management. These companies employ over 320,000 people who operate around 2,400 recycling and sorting centres, 1,100 composting sites, 260 waste-to-energy plants and 900 controlled landfills. Our companies have an approximate 60% share in the household waste market and handle more than 75% of industrial and commercial waste in Europe. Their combined annual turnover is approximately € 75 billion. FEAD brochures can be downloaded at : https://fead.be/who-we-are

  • 📍 FEAD now represents 20 national associations from EU Member States! ARI - Affalds- og Ressourceindustrien, a Danish organisation that represents 13 private waste management companies has officially joined the FEAD family. ARI shares our commitment to a circular and market-based transformation of the waste sector, aiming to ensure all waste is recycled in a single cycle and that recycled resources hold the same high value as virgin materials. 🗣 Claudia Mensi, FEAD President, shared her enthusiasm: 'We are thrilled to welcome ARI to the FEAD family. Together, we will continue to advocate for policies that promote the use of recycled materials, fair competition, and a thriving circular economy in Europe'. 🗣 Niels Bukholt, Head of Secretariat at ARI, added: 'The EU plays a central role in shaping the recycling market. Our membership in FEAD is a key platform for driving progress at the European level'. This membership highlights the growing recognition of the importance of engaging in European discussions to shape the future of waste management. • 🛑 Europe could lose its leadership in innovative plastic production and recycling! How come? The plastic value chain is being hit by a strong recession caused by persisting issues such as increased imports of non-EU recycled #plastics, reduced investments in domestic raw #materials production and recycling, as well as a lack of demand for EU-virgin and recycled plastics. That is why we, in collaboration with 17 other industry stakeholders, are calling for immediate efforts to strengthen the European plastics industry.
