Ever wondered what really happens to your clothes once they’re used and discarded? 🤔    Researchers estimate that less than 20% of used and waste textiles from households and industries are collected in the EU. And out of the waste effectively collected, only 30% is sent for recycling!    It’s time to mend the fabric of our textiles industry.   With the EU Textiles Strategy, we aim to reduce textile waste.     Here’s how we’re taking action:  🌍 Restricting the export of textile waste  ♻ Setting standards for textiles to last longer  🚨 Combatting misleading sustainability claims  👗 Raising awareness about sustainable fashion  🚫 Discouraging the destruction of unsold textiles  🧶 Tackling greenwashing to empower consumers  💡 Requiring to provide transparent product details  🔄 Reversing overproduction and overconsumption  🧵 Setting requirements for minimum recycled content  🧬 Addressing the release of microplastics from synthetic fabrics  🔧 Supporting circular business models, like reuse and repair sectors    Together, we can build a more sustainable future for fashion!    Learn more → https://lnkd.in/e-EGA25X     #FashionWaste #CircularEconomy

Ankle or crew socks?   Millennials or Gen-Z?    It doesn’t matter what your generation and preference are, but we want products such as clothes, tires, and laptops to be more durable, repairable, and, in general, more sustainable.     Our new EU rules on Ecodesign for Sustainable Products improve the way products are made, used, and dealt with at the end of their life.    In short, they are:    ♻️ promoting durability, reusability, and reparability to reduce waste  ♻️ improving energy and resource efficiency and increasing recycled content  ♻️ reducing hazardous substances that impede recycling  ♻️ minimising environmental impact and promoting transparency through digital product passports Learn more about the new rules🔗 https://europa.eu/!F49Hcq    #EuropeanUnion

The work of the Strategic Dialogue on Agriculture shows that we can overcome polarisation, create trust and find common solutions. Its final report, presented today to President von der Leyen, outlines key challenges and opportunities in the agri-food sector and shows that consensus can be built among key interests from across the whole agri-food chain. The recommendations will shape the Commission's Vision for Sustainable Agriculture, to be delivered in the first 100 days of the second mandate.
