EKHA celebrates two significant milestones in EU health policy! On 3 December, EU Ministers of Health adopted Council Conclusions on both #organ #donation and #transplantation, and #cardiovascular health (CVDs). These conclusions reflect years of dedicated advocacy and collaboration, ensuring the needs of kidney health are firmly integrated into EU health policy. Organ Donation & Transplantation Conclusions: • Acknowledge the success of the 2009–2015 EU Action Plan. • Highlight the importance of #healthcare professionals and #research. • Call for stronger frameworks, including advancing deceased and living donor programmes. • Include a request to the European Commission to update the EU Action Plan—an EKHA core priority. Cardiovascular Health Conclusions: • Recognise the elevated cardiovascular risks for #ChronicKidneyDisease (CKD) patients. • Emphasise the importance of early detection of kidney disease. • Stress the need to assess kidney function during CVD screenings. These achievements reflect EKHA’s past and ongoing advocacy to ensure kidney health remains a priority in European health strategies. EKHA commends all involved in achieving these milestones.
