Last week, CropLife International had the privilege of hosting a delegation comprising representatives from CropLife #Vietnam and the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), in D.C. It was a truly insightful exchange, with our discussions including the tremendous progress of the Sustainable Pesticide Management Framework (#SPMF) in Vietnam, one of the three selected countries in Asia benefiting from this global initiative. We are immensely proud of the ongoing partnership with MARD and CropLife Vietnam, as we work together to enable Vietnamese farmers to access cutting-edge crop protection technologies and sustainable farming practices. With the recent cooperation plan signed for 2024, the first year of implementing the SPMF program, we're excited to continue supporting Vietnam's efforts to build a more resilient and sustainable agricultural system. We are confident that this collaboration will not only strengthen food systems but also contribute to protecting human health, the environment, and improving the quality of agricultural products. #CultivatingInnovation

Productivity, science-based innovation, sustainable growth and a rules-based multilateral agricultural trade system are the core ingredients for a meaningful food system transformation. The Recommendations of the B20 Sustainable Food Systems & Agriculture Task Force set out a clear roadmap for this transformation. Building on months of work under the leadership of CNI - Confederação Nacional da Indústria and CropLife International’s own Chairman Livio Tedeschi of BASF as co-Chair of the Task Force, our industry is united in welcoming the tangible and actionable goals presented by the group. We applaud the G20 Brasil 2024 and B20 Brasil teams for the extraordinary work and progress made to date and look forward to continuing the dialogue at the meeting of the G20 Agriculture Ministers 🤝 Read the press release👉 https://lnkd.in/eS8QbQhD #G20Brasil #G20Brazil #SustainableFoodSystems

CropLife International's team is back from an incredible week at the International Grains Council Conference in London! Day one culminated in a live interview between our Board Chair, Livio Tedeschi, and our President and CEO, Emily Rees, with Livio proudly announcing CropLife International’s Industry Declaration, reaffirming renewed commitment to the principles enshrined in the International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management and underscoring our dedication to promoting sustainable and responsible pesticide use globally. Day two of the conference kicked off with a dynamic panel – hosted by Emily – on "The End of Fungibility? Innovations in the Plant Science Sector". Attracting a near full-house audience and bringing together government, international institutions and industry, the discussion underscored the need for harmonized regulatory standards to ensure that innovations in seed technology can be effectively and efficiently brought to market, benefiting both farmers and the environment on a global scale. A big thank you to the #IGC, event organizers, sponsors, hosts and delegates for making the conference a stimulating and thought-provoking success. We’ve returned inspired by the collaborative spirit and more committed than ever to driving innovation and sustainability in agriculture. #CultivatingInnovation

📢 “Balancing the imperatives of biodiversity, productivity and climate are central to our shared purpose” stated Livio Tedeschi, CropLife International Chairman, as the members of the trade association issued an #Industry #Declaration renewing and reaffirming their commitment to the principles and standards of the International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management.   The Code of Conduct (#ICoC), governed by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), is a voluntary instrument covering the whole pesticide lifecycle from research and development, manufacture and use, to the safe removal and treatment of waste, and it outlines the responsibilities of all stakeholders throughout these processes.   Adherence to the principles of the Code of Conduct is a condition of membership of CropLife International, reflecting its centrality to the industry and organization, and the Declaration marks the first anniversary of the publication of CropLife International’s Guide to Industry on the Code’s implementation.   Read the declaration: https://lnkd.in/eYMAprkd and the press release: https://lnkd.in/eyVzC6eR

🌎 Today, World Food Safety Day, is a moment to highlight the importance of policies and practices that prioritize safe food both for a healthy population and a healthy planet alike. 🍽️ Because food safety isn't just about what's on our plates – it's about the entire food system. 🌱 From trade and agriculture to industry and policy-making, every aspect of our food journey plays a crucial role in ensuring that the food we eat is safe and nutritious. 🌾 Natural events such as floods, droughts, and storms can significantly disrupt food safety. And this year’s theme – ‘’prepare for the unexpected’’ – underscores the importance of preparedness in managing these incidents. 🤝 Being ready to handle food safety issues requires coordinated efforts from policymakers, food safety authorities, farmers, and food business operators. 📜 The World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement) sets out the basic rules on food safety and animal and plant health standards that governments must follow. CropLife International fully supports this and actively advocates for standards based on science – read more about our work here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eNdnKhB2. International standards such as #Codex are essential in preparing for the unexpected.   #CultivatingInnovation #WorldFoodSafetyDay #FoodSafety
