You are wasting your time using shortcuts to create executive decisions. Yes, shortcuts help you come up with ideas. And, shortcuts help you make decisions faster. When using shortcuts, we found that you can make decisions, implement them into a framework, and execute them all within 10 minutes. Humans, on the other hand, took an average of 30 minutes. But there are some issues that most people don’t talk about. The first is shortcuts take what's already available and reuse the same old information. Executives want to see something innovative... The second is we found that 70% of the time human-made decisions outperformed shortcut-generated decisions. In the first chart, you can see the results of an experiment. We had 10 companies create strategies… 50 strategies to be exact, and each company implemented both shortcut-made decisions and human-made decisions. You can see over time the human-made decisions generated way more successful outcomes. And then, when you look at how much success was gained versus time spent… even though it took less time to crank out shortcut decisions, human-made decisions generated more success per minute spent. Now, does this mean that you should never use shortcuts to help you with your executive decisions? Well no… in the future, shortcuts will get better. It’s just not there yet for decision-making. And second, there are purposes for it... like it could help you brainstorm faster. But using it for making executive decisions isn’t that effective, at least in its current form. Have you found shortcuts to be a double-edged sword in your decision-making process? #ExecutiveEducation #DecisionMaking #Leadership #ProfessionalGrowth #BusinessStrategy #HR #HRStrategy #DigitalTools #WorkplaceInnovation #Leadership #HumanResources #BusinessDevelopment #Entrepreneurship #StartupTips #BusinessPlan #SmallBusiness #Outsourcing #BusinessGrowth #Partnerships #Entrepreneurship #BusinessStrategy #enroute #ecdl

If you're expecting an easy ride, don't get into strategic planning. It's delusional to think it is. Having just a skillset is NOT enough to succeed. I've seen it time after time. In traditional corporate roles: - You show up - You do your job (with great skill, of course) - You get paid - You do that on repeat Then over time, you start thinking, 'hold on, surely it's just as easy to take that skill, do it for myself, and jump on the fast track to organizational success?' Newsflash. It's not. Suddenly you're responsible for not just the work you're doing BUT everything else too. There's also: - The development of a comprehensive market analysis - The crafting of robust performance metrics - The commitment to stakeholder communication - The dedication to continuous improvement processes - The efficient systems you create for project management - The setting of boundaries for resource allocation - The effective management of cross-functional teams If you do the above well, you'll be a 'standout' in strategic planning. Without them, your skillset won't be allowed to thrive. Have you assessed your current capabilities before diving into a new strategic endeavor? Business ideas are a dime a dozen. 99.9% of people have a large number of them. But an idea is pretty meaningless if you don't bring it to life. If you're stuck, here's how to begin: 1. Choose One Idea: Pick something you've considered building. It could be anything: - An innovative app for small businesses - A sustainable fashion line - An educational platform for coding - A personalized health coaching service Anything. Just pick the one idea that most resonates with you. 2. Do Some Quick Research: Go to a site like Google Trends and start plugging in keywords. What questions are people asking on Quora? Use advanced LinkedIn and Twitter search to find people talking about the topic. What are they trying to figure out? This will give you a sense of what challenges people have. 3. Create a Simple Plan: - What are the business goals? - What are the important milestones? - What are your critical daily actions? 4. Start Small: Don't immediately start selling. Create some useful content that leads people on a journey. You move your customer through stages by answering these questions: - Problem unaware: Do I have a problem? - Problem aware: Is there a solution? - Solution aware: Do you have a solution? - Product aware: Why your solution? 5. Evaluate & Adjust: Refine as you go. After 3 months, check to see what's working and what isn't working. Do 2x more of what is. Stop doing what isn't. Remember - building a business isn't about having endless ideas. It's about actioning your idea to make it grow. Good luck. 💼 Are you aware of the difference between "Training" and "Development" in the corporate world? Training is a short-term process with a specific goal in mind, to enhance an employee's vital skills and performance on the job. It's about strengthening skills, improving attitudes, and modifying behaviour to bolster worker performance. Meanwhile, development takes a more comprehensive, long-term approach. It focuses on employee growth, equipping them with new skills and preparing them for future challenges. Both have a crucial role to play in the success of an organization. Training ensures employees are equipped with the skills they need to excel, while development nurtures long-term growth, enables future leadership, and boosts job satisfaction. In this fast-paced global economy, investing in the right training and development initiatives for your employees is not just a necessity; it's a strategic decision that can steer your company towards success.
