As the countdown to next year begins, we reminisce on an unforgettable week this summer at Tales of the Cocktail 2024, in New Orleans. Attended by the Mount Gay team, including Barbados' first female Master Blender, Trudiann Branker, highlights of the week included the 'Soil to Sip' Seminar: A discussion on Estate Rum, and the Mount Gay Spirited Dinner. This summer, in celebration of 50 years of CARICOM, Mount Gay Distilleries and Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery proudly presented their CARICOM 50th Anniversary limited editions at at Ilaro Court, to Barbados' Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by Hurricane Beryl. We hope you and your loved ones are safe. A special thought for the fishermen and women of Barbados who have lost their boats, impacting the livelihoods of so many. We are united in this challenging time. Our thoughts are also with our neighbours in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, and all te islands that have or will suffer from the hurricane. This past weekend, in celebration of World Ocean Day, the Mount Gay team in Barbados dedicated a day to marine conservation 🌎🌊 Together with friends and family, our community gathered at Folkstone Marine Park in Barbados for an impactful beach cleanup initiative. United, we worked to restore the natural beauty of our beloved beaches, raising awareness about the importance of preserving our marine environments. After the cleanup was a tour of the Folkstone Marine Museum, where we learned about the rich marine biodiversity and the efforts being made to protect it. The day culminated with an insightful glass-bottom boat tour, giving everyone a firsthand glimpse into the vibrant underwater world, from tropical fish to turtles and stingrays 🐢 At Mount Gay, we are committed to protecting our planet and community for years to come, with sustainability at the heart of everything we do, from soil to sip. Last night at the Mount Gay Distillery in Barbados, an intimate gathering was held to commemorate the launch of the seventh edition in the Master Blender Collection: The Coffey Still Expression, A Tribute to Blues.   This edition, using 100% Barbadian molasses, is our tribute to Blues and his legacy. An icon in the field of distillation, Blues contributed immeasurably to the craftsmanship of Mount Gay's rums, enjoyed by millions around the world. At the Coffey Still itself, Managing Director, Antoine Couvreur shared heartfelt words on Blues' impact and career spanning over 50 years, and insight on the historic rarity of the Coffey Still. At the plaque unveiling, we were joined by the family of the late Distiller, ‘Blues’ Reynold Hinds, including son, Wave, current Mount Gay Distiller. Later in the evening, Master Blender, Trudiann Branker, offered her words of dedication accompanied by an exclusive tasting of this rare liquid. The Master Blender Collection: The Coffey Still Expression is bottled at 58% ABV and is non-chill filtered in order to preserve its rich aromas and natural colour.
