In Latvia, after the first wave of African swine fever, when thousands of pigs were eliminated in small farms and large pig breeding complexes, a large part of small farms gave up the pig breeding business. Eight years have passed, African swine fever is still raging in the country, which mainly affects wild boars, and rarely the infection reaches one of the farms. The spread of swine fever in Latvia continues to worry pig farmers, as does the high competition in the pork market.
