Role of Business Development Manager
The Business Development Manager is tasked with securing new business and driving revenue growth. Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying Opportunities: Researching and targeting prospective business opportunities within a designated market.
- Sales Pipeline: Creating and maintaining a pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Customer Engagement: Understanding customer needs and articulating Travelport’s value proposition.
- Relationship Building: Developing strong relationships with key decision-makers.
- Collaboration: Working with Sales Engineers, Solution Consultants, Account Management, and Customer Success Managers.
- Internal Liaison: Coordinating with departments such as Product, Sales Operations, Legal, Finance, and Marketing.
- Reporting: Providing accurate forecasts and sales activity reports.
- Promotion: Devise creative strategies to promote Travelport’s products and services.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate should have:
- Proven success in achieving sales quotas and aligning customer needs with solutions.
- Strong commercial acumen and business development skills.
- Excellent relationship management and customer engagement abilities.
- Experience in solutions selling within the high-tech and/or travel industry.
- Initiative, decision-making skills, and the ability to influence customers.
- Proficiency in Oracle CRM and understanding of Travelport’s products and services.
- Excellent communication, time management, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of the travel industry and GDS functionality is advantageous.
Working Relationships
The role involves working with senior-level prospective and existing customers, collaborating with local markets and EMEA headquarters, and liaising with key internal stakeholders. Effective influence and collaboration across Travelport and with third-party organizations are essential to contribute to the company’s growth and profitability.
