Last week, Stephen Luxmoore visited Austral Clothes Hoists to take Dean Britton, Michael Warhust and dennis hatzis through Your HR System's new Asset Manager. Having used a paper based system to track assets until now, the new tool will be a game changer, streamlining and simplifying the process moving forward. As Michael, the Production Manager, said, 'the Asset Manager will make it so much easier to track the return of assets when staff leave or change roles'. #hr #hrmanagement #hrmanagementsystem #assetmanagement

We are always working away behind the scenes to build new functions and capabilities into Your HR System, based on what our clients tell us they need and want. So, naturally we are super excited to officially launch our latest enhancement to the system – the Asset Manager. Now accessible to all Your HR System clients through the Company tab, the Asset Manager provides a centralised register where you can quickly and easily store and access the details of all company equipment and assets, including: 🚙 Cars and vehicles 💻 Computers and IT equipment 📱Mobile phones and tablets 🛠️ Tools and equipment 💳 Credit cards 🔑 Keys and swipe cards 🪑 Office furniture 📀 Software licenses ✚ Anything else you need to keep track of. It groups all the different assets by category, so you can quickly see how many laptops or vehicles you have, where they are located and which employee has them. You can also store and access things like model and serial numbers, warranty details, value, maintenance logs, manuals and any other information you might need. The uses and benefits of having all this info stored in one place and accessible in seconds are endless… Particularly for: ✅ Insurance renewals and/or claims. ✅ When an employee leaves. ✅ Auditing and depreciation schedules. ✅ Lifecycle tracking, maintenance and purchase planning. Feedback from our pilot has been incredibly positive! After all, it’s just another way Your HR System is helping Australian businesses streamline and simplify HR management. Like a demo? When we first started working with Foreground Architecture, their objective was to create solid HR foundations that would allow them to retain the right people in the right roles, bring out the best in them, improve the practice's overall effectiveness and grow. We recently chatted with one of their Directors, Riordan Gough, about his experience working with Your HR Team and Your HR System over the last couple of years. Here’s what he told us: 'While HR is an ongoing and constant process of evolution, we now have a more engaged and better-performing team thanks to Your HR Team & System. Our approach to HR is fair and democratic rather than based on personal relationships. Standardised roles and KPIs have taken the subjectivity out of it and allow us to manage and measure performance in a manner that is balanced and fair. We have clear development pathways that allow us to nurture and develop our future leaders. Your HR System has been the glue that has brought it all together and has been embraced by our staff and leadership team because it is so easy to use and navigate. Our staff are happier. They know what is expected and required of them, and if they have a concern, there’s a dedicated person to go to.' To learn more about how we’ve worked with Foreground Architecture to help them achieve this, have a read of the Case Study here https://lnkd.in/gjZT7mKC And, get in touch if you’d like to learn more about how Your HR Team & System can help your business manage, develop and retain great people. #hr #humanresources #peoplemanagement #leadership

Performance reviews shouldn't be something that staff or managers dread. With the right methodology and approach, they are an opportunity for you and your people to have meaningful, honest, two-way conversations that engage and inspire. Your HR System's two-way performance review framework makes it simple and straightforward for you and your staff to have performance reviews that are productive, constructive and worthwhile. The platform uses a best practice methodology that: ✍️ Draws information directly from each team member's position description to create the performance review framework. 📧 Sends a pre-review assessment to you (or the relevant manager) and the employee to complete before the review meeting. 🚦 Uses a simple traffic light system for assessment. 🔎 Makes it easy to assess performance against KPIs. 🎯 Set goals and stick to them – with automated reminders, alerts and progress tracking. We all love a public holiday 😊 and with the Grand Final holiday coming up on Friday here in Victoria (and Melbourne Cup Day not far behind), we thought it was timely to talk about some of the grey areas surrounding working or not working them. 👉 Sometimes, employees may ask to swap the day off for another day. While most Awards and some Agreements allow for this, it’s important to double-check, as in some circumstances the employee may still be entitled to be paid penalty rates for working the public holiday. 👉 We often get questions about whether or not an employee can refuse to work a public holiday. Ultimately, several factors come into play in determining this, including the business's operational requirements, the nature of the work performed by the employee, and the employee’s personal family responsibilities. If you’re unsure about your rights and responsibilities as an employer when it comes to public holidays, we recommend checking the relevant Award and also having a read of the Fairwork Ombudsman’s Public Holidays fact sheet. https://lnkd.in/dh8HCWw #hr #humanresources #fairwork #employmentlaw

Employers often encourage employees to take time off in lieu instead of getting paid for overtime, and in many instances, employees are more than happy with the arrangement 😊. But there is often confusion about how it should be done…. For example, should time in lieu be based on an hour for an hour? Or should it be based on the overtime rate that applies? How it works depends on what’s set out in the Award or Agreement that covers the employee’s employment. For example, Under the Restaurant Industry Award, the time allocated for time in lieu is based on the overtime rate – not hour for hour. But under the Clerks Private Sector and Building and Construction General On-site Awards, time in lieu is based on hour for hour. You can check the rules that apply for individual Awards here https://lnkd.in/gytkPnhX As a general rule, employers cannot force employees to take time in lieu instead of paid overtime but can offer it as an option. If the employee agrees to it, generally, the agreement must be documented in writing. #hr #humanresources #fairwork #employmentlaw

The rules and regulations around employment and HR can be hard to navigate. That’s why we created the HR Health Check – a super simple Q & A that takes about 5 minutes to complete and allows you to identify what you are doing well, where the opportunities to improve are, and most importantly, any areas that need your immediate attention or action. We recently shared it with a group of 22 HR Professionals who told us… ‘It’s a great tool, simple to use, easy to navigate and with really valuable info’ ‘This will be really helpful in engaging senior management, highlighting our risks and gaps and justifying HR spending’ Why not give it a go yourself and see how healthy your HR is? https://lnkd.in/gj-4gckR #hr #humanresources #fairwork

The long awaited, much talked about ‘right to disconnect’ from work legislation comes into effect today. This means employees of businesses with 15 or more staff now have the right to refuse to respond to emails, phone calls, or contact from you or a third party outside of their working hours, unless that refusal is unreasonable… Factors like the reason for contact, the employee’s role and responsibilities, whether or not the employee will be compensated or paid extra, and their personal circumstances all come into play when determining if contact is or isn’t unreasonable… As always, if you need help understanding how the ‘right to disconnect’ applies to your business and your people, we're here to help 😊

Our Director, Stephen Luxmoore, had the pleasure of hosting a workshop for 22 HR professionals at the Connecting HR Inc. meeting last week. Together, the group shared their experiences and expertise to collectively explore, identify and workshop strategies for overcoming the key challenges employers and HR professionals are grappling with in 2024. These included: • Leadership skills and capabilities within the organisation • An aging workforce and skills shortages • Succession planning • The equity, or rather inequity, of flexible work arrangements • The challenge of managing mental health and psychological safety • Personal burnout and the challenges of being a HR professional. We’re curious... Do these challenges resonate with you? Are there other HR challenges you are grappling with that aren’t on the list? Finally, a big thank you to Lyn Marshall, Pilar Zegrati, Michael O'Meara, Kristy McNamee, Eileen Kershaw, Jo-Anne Naylor, Kelly Martin, Charlotte Tabatabai, Mary Job, Sharyn Hartnett, Espi Sugay, Lindsay Ong, Tim Melville, Ileana Rodriguez, Michele Crawley, Christine Prendergast, Kerry Thomas, Christine Duncan, Amelia Smit, Angie Francis, David Eilenberg If you're an HR professional and would like to join us for the next Connecting HR Inc. meeting on 15 October, let us know—we'd love to have you. #HR #humanresources #hrprofessionals
