Workpants sessions are confidential 🔒 This is an essential element of our workplace service for new parents - confidentiality is not optional. And our workplaces don’t get concerned by it, they are overwhelmingly reassured. And you know who’s really pumped about it? The participants. Our confidential sessions encourage honest conversations about the tangle of life and work without fear of conflicting interests. Here are a few scenarios specific to parenthood: - My boss is allergic to flexibility.  - Is leadership still an option for me? - I feel like I’m letting everyone down. - I’m really doubting my abilities right now. - I can’t make it all fit - this feels impossible! - I’m nervous about telling work I’m pregnant. - I have never felt more ambitious IN. MY. LIFE. - Is it just me, or are people taking me less seriously? - I'm struggling to navigate my fertility challenges privately. - I feel like I’ve been sidelined since returning from parental leave.  - I feel worried about being the only dad taking primary carer's leave. - Everything looks different after becoming a parent, do I still want this? - How do I find meaning in work now that everything has shifted so much? - How do I handle that look on everyone’s faces when I return after my loss? - I’m thinking of starting a family and wondering how it will impact my career. Even with supportive leaders and supportive workplaces, new parents value the private space we've created for them to focus on their careers. “It’s meant so much to have a safe space outside of work to talk with you about how my career looks now that I’m a mum.” - Anon review used with permission 💚 #parentalleave #careercounselling #humanresources #employeebenefits #careerdevelopment #learninganddevelopment

So much opportunity comes with being made redundant. I know it might not feel like it at first (I’m a hearty believer in taking it personally for a little while before you try to move on), but here’s what I’ve learned through my own experience that might help if you’re going through this: There’s a world of possibilities. This might feel daunting but it can also be an exciting phase of exploration and potential. Anything that wasn’t right about your former role can be tinkered with as you plan for your next one. The door might suddenly open for that thing you always meant to do but couldn’t because you felt stuck where you were. You’ll have been through a tough thing, and that can make you tougher. It might be the thing that had to happen so you could have something better. You’ll reassess your beliefs about job security, and adapt to the new experience. Realising that you can’t control everything is quite liberating, because then your energy can be directed to what you CAN control. If you’ve been through redundancy, share your learnings below - you never know who might need to read your words today. #redundancy #jobloss #jobsearch #careeradvice

Thought we'd share some further insights from our interview with Ali Killaly, Founder of Workpants, where she talks about the impact of coaching for the working parents she supports. Sometimes we see immediate impacts in problem solving, other times impacts, from coaching are long term. Someone mentioned mentoring is support for dependance (this is how I've done things), coaching is support for independence (I'll support you to figure out your way) 🌿 We'd love to hear what content is resonating and what you'd like to see more of!
