Whitehaven’s engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is built around the principles of respect, unity and historical acceptance, and a belief that mining should empower and support their rights to pursue cultural and socioeconomic independence and fulfilment. In FY24, we continued to drive positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our communities in North West NSW through employment, procurement, and community programs. Following the acquisition of the Blackwater and Daunia mines, we will be expanding these partnerships and working together to replicate our NSW success across our Queensland operations. About us
Whitehaven Coal is proud to be the leading Australian coal producer. Throughout our 20-year history, we have helped to power developed and emerging economies in Asia where there is strong and growing demand for our product, particularly for use in high-efficiency, low-emissions coal-fired power stations. Our coal is highly sought-after for its unique properties, including the fact it delivers among the lowest carbon emissions per tonne of coal consumed in the seaborne trade. Following the transformational acquisition of the Blackwater and Daunia mines, our portfolio will shift toward metallurgical coal, with approximately 70% of our revenue expected to come from metallurgical coal and 30% from thermal coal. We expect demand for our products to remain strong, particularly throughout our key Asia markets. Metallurgical coal is a critical component in steel making and our thermal coal will continue to have an important role to play in supporting global energy security during the multi-decade energy transition. We operate six mines (five open-cut and one large underground mine) in the Gunnedah Coal Basin of NSW and Bowen Basin of QLD. Our operating assets are complemented by two high-quality, near-term and large-scale development assets being Vickery, near Gunnedah, and Winchester South, near Moranbah. These operations are supported by offices in Sydney, Newcastle, Gunnedah, Brisbane and Tokyo. Over more than two decades, including over 15 years as a publicly-listed entity on the Australian Securities Exchange, we have developed a reputation for excellence in project delivery, safe operation, and targeted investment in the local economy and community.

In addition to some serious Mo growing, there's plenty of activity happening around our sites and offices for Movember. Yesterday our Brisbane office used Melbourne Cup as a fantastic opportunity to host an event and raise funds. We're not even a week into Movember, and we've raised over $16,000! How can you support the cause? Click the link to donate to Movember via the Whitehaven Coal challenge: https://bit.ly/45NQuVG

There are teams of experts working alongside our operations to restore the land after mining. And Olivia is one of them! She’s an environmental scientist in Gunnedah in Whitehaven Coal’s Mine Closure Unit. The team carefully selects and plants native trees and plants, thoroughly monitoring progress to restore vibrant ecosystems after mining is finished under strict regulatory standards. And when she’s not restoring the land, Olivia’s hitting the trails as an ultra-marathon runner. Anyone who runs over 40km for fun? A hero in our book! #nswmining #responsiblemining #running #whitehaven #nswcoal #womeninmining
