On Friday 13th September 2024, the Women’s Health Research Theme and Xi Omicron Chapter at-Large held a Women’s Health Matters Symposium with the focus “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”. There were five amazing guest speakers including Trish Doyle, member of the Legislative Assembly NSW and Member for Blue Mountains, Denele Crozier, Chief Executive Officer for NSW Women’s Health, Elizabeth Oloruntola, visiting scholar from University of Ibadan, Nigeria, Faten Al Dana OAM, President of Muslim Women’s Welfare of Australia, and Tanya, a women who shared her story of domestic and family violence. The event was well attended by academics, clinicians and students from Australia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, India and Nepal. As such, the event provided excellent networking opportunities for members of the Theme and valuable exposure for the School of Nursing and Midwifery to enhance our reputation.
