This year MusicTherapy@Western are celebrating 25 years of Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA) accredited training! We celebrated this milestone in many ways at the recent AMTA National Conference & PDS (6-8 September) at 1PSQ - but one special way was collecting 25 years worth of photos and graduate class lists! Thank you to all have been involved with the course over the past 25 years - staff, supervisors, and students - for being a part of the legacy of MusicTherapy@Western! https://lnkd.in/gWQD-Z43

Lots of fun conducting the Speed Squiggle workshop with a bunch of indigenous high school students from Western Sydney as part of the Unlocking Careers Day. They learnt about the value of a rough sketch and iteration in the creative process while playing with line, tone and highlights. I’m always amazed to see what others see in these random lines and shapes. Hopefully some budding graphic designers amongst them.

Come join us for the exciting launch of the anthology of essays, Design/Repair: Place, Practice & Community on September 19th! Edited and contributed to by Alison Gill, the book sheds light on repair as a disposition to material culture and a practice rooted in diverse sociocultural experiences. It provides an in-depth exploration of how repair manifests itself through the different lenses of governance, grassroots activism, transformative design and community-led initiatives. Each chapter unveils how local, place-based strategies can create meaningful social change, especially in today’s challenging environmental and social landscape. The event will take place from 2-3pm and will be held both online and in-person at Geoffrey Robertson Boardroom, Female Orphan School (Building EZ), Parramatta South Campus. Tickets are free but be sure to RSVP so you don't miss out. https://lnkd.in/gW7qFR-G

Explore the history of movie theatres in the city of Yamaguchi, Japan, with The Japan Foundation @japanfoundationsydney, Sydney’s upcoming exhibition ‘Afternote: In the Shade of Cinema’ 📽️ Together with records and materials related to the city's cinemas, the display includes the latest work by contemporary Japanese artist Nobuhiro Shimura, a 79-minute documentary also titled ‘Afternote’ which was commissioned by YCAM, the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media. By unearthing the memories of local residents and what the cinema meant to them, 'Afternote' reminisces on the days when movie theatres were considered the cultural centre, a part of daily life and the cityscape.
