  • Well put, Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA 👏 At Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers we’re embracing carbon capture, storage and utilisation (CCS) technologies as an important part of our Net Zero Roadmap. CCS solutions are critical for businesses like ours that work in the hard-to-abate sector.  “We have a thriving hydrogen industry in Australia and CCS is a proven technology for decarbonising it,” WesCEF General Manager Climate Opportunities Mussaret Nagree said. “We’re increasingly seeing the role of gas in the transition being understood and acknowledged. The natural extension of that is support for CCS. “It’s important we embrace all decarbonisation pathways and technologies to reduce our environmental impact, particularly in industries where emissions are harder to abate.” As we continue our decarbonisation journey, we remain committed to supporting technologies like CCS that align with our sustainability goals and contribute to Australia’s net zero goal 🍃🌏 Learn more about WesCEF’s roadmap to net zero 👉 https://lnkd.in/etB7ymeu .    #NetZero #Decarbonisation #CCS

Development of carbon capture, storage and utilisation technologies could contribute more than $80 billion to the Western Australian economy over 20 years, according to a new report by CCIWA. The report, Capturing our Future: Why Carbon Capture is critical to Australia’s Energy Transition, lays out the key economic and environmental arguments for embracing carbon capture in Australia. “Alongside investment in renewable energy sources, carbon capture is an important tool that countries can use to reduce the environmental impact of heavy industries in particular,” says CCIWA Chief Economist Aaron Morey. • Things might look a little different after 42 years but, under the surface, not a lot has changed for Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers' Commercial Manager – Finance Projects, Greg Lister. He values friends and family as much as ever, which is why it was particularly special to have Greg's wife, Kelly, join us at his retirement farewell this week, along with his son, Jordan, who works at CSBP Fertilisers.   Greg started with us in 1981 as a payroll clerk, back in the day when people were paid in cash in envelopes! From there, he went onto to have numerous accounting roles with the business.   In 1994, Greg decided he’d had enough of crunching numbers and was given the opportunity to take on the role of running CSBP Fertilisers’ manufacturing facility in Geraldton, where he juggled work and family life with three young kids.   “That was a really positive change for me, and the reason I’ve been able to get where I am in the company today,” he said.   After five years in Geraldton, Greg made the move back to Kwinana as Customer Service Manager, followed by stints as Manager for Storage and Distribution and as Fertiliser Operations Manager.   After spending most of his career with CSBP, Greg moved into roles with WesCEF as Commercial Manager - Procurement and most recently as Commercial Manager - Projects, contributing his expertise to the ERP program.   Greg is proud of the contribution he has made to improving the safety performance of the teams he’s worked with and in helping to develop others within the business.   One of the things Greg is going to miss most about working at WesCEF, is the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people who have such a broad range of skills.   “There’s always been a huge commitment by all the people at WesCEF to work better to improve the business,” Greg said.   With retirement just around the corner, Greg says he is most looking forward to hitting the road in the caravan, enjoying long walks with his wife and being kept busy with his three children and six grandchildren.   We wish Greg all the best in retirement and thank him for his input, insight, experience, dedication and contribution to the business over his past 42-plus years.

CSBP’s Prill & ANE Process Lead, Andrew Brady and Product Support Engineer, Ammonium Nitrate, Michael R. were awarded for their Innovation at Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers Thanks Awards. As part of the Mining Solutions Team, Andrew and Michael created ANE’s new Spinifex 70 series range, which allows customers to customise their ANE for performance or cost. It provides significant cost savings and gives CSBP a clear marketing advantage. The range uses much less fuel than the previous version and has been formulated to significantly reduce scope 1 emissions for customers and scope 3 emissions for WesCEF. This innovative solution could also be the lowest carbon intensive ANE produced in the world, subject to classification. Both Andrew and Michael note the Thanks Award is wonderful recognition and acknowledgement for all their hard work. For Michael, WesCEF’s flexibility, autonomy and leadership that contributes to a supportive workplace and fosters bottom-up ideas and innovation is invaluable. “It takes time to develop solutions and innovate and it’s great that we have the support of the business to spend dedicated time on complex problem solving,” Michael said. “I really enjoy being able to work with other departments, as well as engage directly with customers, to better understand problems, needs and wants and develop innovative solutions that benefit all.” Andrew adds that it is great to work for a dynamic company that looks to continually change and improve the way it does things and is large enough to have a positive impact on society. “Innovation is crucial to everything we to do progress as a business. If you’re not improving yourself and what you do, then you end up going backwards as others move past you,” Andrew said “It’s so rewarding to see your idea developed for the marketplace and be considered a market leader in its performance.” Congratulations Andrew and Michael and keep coming up with those innovative ideas! #wescefthanks #innovation #rewardandrecognition

  • WesCEF was well represented at this week's Energy Club WA dinner (23 July) where more than 300 industry guests attended to hear about ‘Fueling Progress: WA’s Ammonia Powered Future’.   Our General Manager Climate Opportunities Mussaret Nagree was one of four outstanding panelists talking about the vital role ammonia plays and will continue to play to produce essential fertilisers that support global food production. Other panelists included Economic and Industry Standing Committee Chair Peter Tinley AM MLA, Mitsui E&P Vice President Development Joe Ariyaratnam, and Yarra General Manager Laurent Trost. Mussaret addressed what industry needs from government in terms of a policy framework that encourages decarbonisation and growth whilst being technology agnostic.   "What I’ve found interesting is that the US, EU and Japan, for example, have provided material support for low carbon ammonia; they haven’t favoured green over blue," Mussaret said. "The focus in those regions has been on driving decarbonisation outcomes without governments favouring a particular technology to deliver the outcomes. "In contrast, here we’ve seen really strong support for green hydrogen, which is really great to help mobilise that technology, and what we really need to see now is similar levels of support for CCUS. "What we really want to see is a policy framework that encourages decarbonisation and growth without picking technology winners; a technology agnostic approach.”
