This wonderful article by British journalist Jonathan Samuels for The Independent is a good reminder that Uluṟu is not a 'one and done' destination. 10 years after his first visit as a reporter, he returned in May with his family to discover entirely new ways to explore: "While Uluṟu remains rock steady, around it there is constant evolution with new creative and immersive ways of enjoying this ancient site." https://lnkd.in/gYBFNqBz

About us
Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia is owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation and manages tourism and resorts on their behalf. With a strong commitment to social responsibility, all profits from our business activities go towards supporting Indigenous training and employment across Australia. Voyages offers experience-based holidays in spectacular wilderness locations including Ayers Rock Resort in the iconic Red Centre and tourism facilities at Mossman Gorge in Tropical Queensland. OUR PHILOSOPHY: Voyages is focused on providing guests with enriching, memorable experiences, which they would not be able to enjoy anywhere else in Australia. We're committed to building and sustaining an Indigenous workforce through training, employment and economic development. Our aim is to train and develop more Indigenous staff, enabling them to secure employment in the hospitality industry across Australia. In turn, our guests will enjoy a more "authentic" Indigenous Australian experience. All profits from Voyages business activities go toward building the resort experience and supporting Indigenous training and employment across Australia. OUR RESPONSIBILITIES: Voyages is committed to nurturing and sharing Australia's sensitive eco and cultural destinations and also to protecting them so that our guests might enjoy them for years to come. Because we feel privileged to operate in remote locations, it is critically important to us that we address local needs and concerns. We have therefore made a commitment to work with local communities via: Sustainable environmental tourism practice Respecting and supporting local cultures Offering employment and training

Make a note in your calendars: DanceRites is back at the Sydney Opera House next weekend, 19-20 October. Uluṟu's Maruku Arts Dancers will compete against nearly 20 other Indigenous dance groups from across Australia; all showcasing the richness and diversity of their cultures with an 8-minute performance on the Forecourt. Groups will also perform an optional ‘Wild Card’ dance to demonstrate their unique style. Heats are on Saturday from 2pm, the finals are on Sunday, and it's free to attend. Good luck to the all the dancers involved! If you can't cheer on the dance groups in-person, the events will also be broadcast as a free livestream on Sydney Opera House and NITV channels. https://lnkd.in/gUNgi9vM Matt Cameron-Smith David White Ana Sofia Ayala Anna Bathgate David Harper Peter Graham Kristin Howden Jane Caiger Gemma Hillis Grant Sayer Phill Pallas

Some more Friday lunchtime reading... We had the pleasure of hosting Melissa Woodley from Time Out Group plc at Uluṟu last month. She's written this stellar article about the bucket-list experiences on offer, and also included Tali Wiru in "The 30 Best Restaurants in Australia Right Now". https://lnkd.in/gUW4y2ie https://lnkd.in/gBBtE3-g

AWARD ALERT! Tali Wiṟu - our dune-top fine-dining experience with sweeping views of Uluṟu and Kata Tjuta - has just won "Oceania's Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant" at the 2024 World Culinary Awards. Huge congratulations to our hard-working Tali Wiṟu team; they're the 'MacGyvers' of the culinary world, considering the isolated desert environment they work in. It was their impeccable service and creativity, along with their mind-blowingly delicious menus (Desert Honey and Kakadu Plum Mousse with matcha sponge & honey tuille, anyone?), that helped get us over the line - not to mention some pretty special views... Happy World Tourism Day! This year's United Nations World Tourism Day theme is "Tourism and Peace"; how travel fosters peace and understanding between nations and cultures, and supports reconciliation processes. That theme is in our DNA. It's our mission to offer enriching experiences and support Indigenous communities - and to create meaningful connections between travellers and the rich heritage of Uluṟu's Aṉangu, and Mossman Gorge's Kuku Yalanji. So here's to World Tourism Day and to the kinship and understanding that travel can ignite! Sunrise Journeys is something truly special. The feedback from guests so far has been phenomenal; Sunrise Journeys has achieved a 91% rating for its quality of service, and 99% of our guests would recommend to friends and family. Verbatim responses include: "One of life's truly magical experiences" "The experience was spine-tingling; I could feel the energy in this sacred place" "A spiritual experience" "The show was just amazing - breathtaking and made me feel emotional" "That was just perfect, and extremely memorable. Thank you" Kudos to the sublimely talented Aṉangu artists and Mandylights for bringing this spectacular experience to life, and to the teams delivering world class service each morning. Sunrise Journeys is now playing at Uluru Ayers Rock Resort. This spectacular event features light, laser, video and music inspired by the artwork "Ngura Nganampa Wiru Mulapa / Our Country is Truly Beautiful" in a unique pre-dawn setting that culminates with sunrise over Uluru. This experience is a result of a collaboration between three renowned Anangu artists - Selina Kulitja (Maruku Arts), Denise Brady (Kaltukatjara Art), and Valerie Brumby (Walkatjara Art) - along with Anangu musician and composer Jeremy Whiskey and Mandylights. It was a pleasure to work with Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia and their team to create this original new work in the heart of Australia.

Friday Morning Read: The New Zealand Herald joined us for our Sunrise Journeys launch in August, and captured so much of Uluṟu's magic in their piece. Here's a small tidbit from writer, Kim Knight: "My jaw is somewhere on the red dirt below. Three football fields worth of desert have become a digital canvas. Bit-by-bit, a painting I’d stood in front of the day prior at the Gallery of Central Australia, is coming to life." https://lnkd.in/gyqYQqgi
Set the alarm: Uluru’s new Sunrise Journeys light show is worth the wake up
