Converting low grade agroforestry waste, into high value, renewable gaseous, solid and liquid fuels

About us

Valorify (the new trading name for Pacific Heat and Power Pty Ltd) is a developer of quality clean energy assets based on a 'Build. Own. Operate.' model. Our goal is to deliver renewable gaseous, solid and liquid energy commodities for 'hard to abate' sectors of the economy, using proving technology and at utility scale. Our specialty is in bioenergy and waste-to-energy applications, driven by life-cycle principles. We use our own resources and expertise to take on the early stage risk of developing projects from inception through to being 'investable' value propositions, thereafter guiding them through project financing, detailed design, construction, commissioning, ongoing operation and asset management.

Delighted for our friends at Yurringa Energy & their massive strides in becoming Australia’s first indigenous owned energy retailer! This is indeed a big deal & our sincere congratulations to Daniel Briggs & Shane Wilkins for all their hard work, vision & persistence. Next stop: the Goulburn Murray Woka Yurringa project! 💪🤩

Petty big deal this. Yurringa Energy, Australia's first Indigenous-owned retail energy provider, has secured the energy supply contract for the North East Link, and in partnership with Alinta Energy, will deliver 100 per cent renewable power during the construction of the North East Link's tunnels. CEO Daniel Briggs: "To be able to create opportunities where we can now build a back end and a workforce that provides opportunities for Indigenous people to think a bit broader about various industries and opportunities for career paths is extremely important" Exclusive in National Indigenous Times https://lnkd.in/g94q6hVA

In thinking about the green transition, it pays to have a diverse range of solutions that match sources of energy, to uses of energy, just as we have in the past. In the case of bioenergy, we also happen to have a solution for managing organic waste 'built in' - it's worthwhile to electrify quite a bit, but not everything and its critically important to hear the voices of industry talking about what this means for them!

Let’s be clear - biomethane is a ‘quick win’; hydrogen is going to take a bit longer! Nevertheless we need both & contrary to the misinformation being pushed by the Climate Council, the opportunity is significant, meaningful & represents an important contribution to the energy transition, while making use of embedded infrastructure. It’s a massive & growing sector overseas - what do we think we know that everyone else is missing?! In addition to food waste & manure which is indeed inherently limited in Australia, there is a vast array of agricultural waste that simply gets torched in the paddock or is left to break down in the environment. It’s time to get on board & make biomethane a part of the story - do we think uncontrolled combustion, flaring & fugitive methane is a better outcome? What better option to make use of and treat such waste, when we are facing a gas shortage & industry desperately needs to decarbonise? #biomethane #rng #valorify https://lnkd.in/gEpBMTCB

ICMYI: Utility-scale biomethane is gaining momentum in Australia! What we need now is clear and consistent policy, and the right incentives to accelerate development and encourage customer take up in the industrial market. #rng #biomethane #biogas

Jemena has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with biogas developer Valorify to build a new biomethane plant in regional New South Wales. The Riverina Bioenergy project will convert agricultural waste into biomethane, enough to meet the energy needs of over 50,000 households or 6% of industrial demand. This project will help decarbonise industries reliant on high-heat processes, such as glass and medicine production, without requiring changes to existing infrastructure. The biomethane will be injected into Jemena's gas distribution network, contributing to a circular economy and reducing emissions. Delighted to be so actively engaged with the team at Jemena, who are working hard to bring scalable biomethane to the market & have already got some serious runs on the board! While biomethane-to-grid is 'standard practice' in many other countries around the world, it is still in its infancy here and we need creative problem solving and persistence to unlock this solution in Australia - let's do this! #valorify #jemena #rng #biomethane #biogas

Agriculture is critical to the development of biomethane in #Ireland. Stubble management on farm is a somewhat complex issue and varies enormously based on weather, growing region, crop type, farmer preference, harvesting and sowing technique, seasonality and topography, to name a few variables, notwithstanding the interplay between all of these. One thing's for sure - retention of at least some stubble on farm offers many benefits, including maintenance of soil structure and improving moisture retention, for instance, and we're all for it! Valorify also acknowledges that this requirement varies across the country and inevitably varies over time too. Equally, we see that there is also substantial excess stubble available in many seasons and cropping catchments, and various opportunities to look at ways to harness this resource in a more productive way, without negatively impacting on the health or productivity of the soil. Coupled with a 'Circular Economy' orientation that aims to recirculate nutrients, minerals and residual carbon as a biofertiliser back into the farming catchment, the broader 'closed loop' solution presented by our biogas platform can actually help to build soil and increase crop yields, while displacing inorganic fertiliser consumption and generating abatement credits for farmers to bank or trade. Blending with #biochar and other soil enhancements could help to stabilise soil carbon and build water holding capacity too, while diversifying farm incomes and stimulating regional development. For these reasons, while we continue to pursue our goal of unlocking utility-scale biogas technology in Australia based on valorisation of agroforestry residues, we will continue to invest and undertake parallel work with our R&D partners to benchmark and close the knowledge gap wherever we can, to ensure we continue to deliver a positive outcome for our farming communities. #valorify #biogas #biomethane #biofertiliser #rng #biochar

It’s wonderful to see a practical, commercial and measured approach to the evolution of renewable gas in Australia by Jemena starting with biomethane as the ‘low hanging fruit’. This is about targeting the lowest cost energy transition & embracing a systems approach to decarbonisation that makes full use of all the options and infrastructure we already have in place - if it can be done in such large quantities overseas, why not here?

Our Managing Director David Gillespie recently sat down with Forbes Australia to discuss the future of energy in Australia, the role biomethane can play, and how he gets a few quiet laps in at the local pool. Forbes Australia’s August Edition ‘Inclusive Capitalism’ focuses on purpose driven leadership and businesses that are bringing more to the table than just financial performance, including those that are investing and focussing on ESG and making positive impacts both in the office and externally.
