When parents and caregivers calmly chat about different solutions to problems with their kids, and genuinely listen to their view and opinions, it can help them feel prepared and confident to handle challenges. Plus, kids are often more likely to enact solutions to problems if they’ve had a chance to come up with some ideas themselves. Our biggest ever survey of parents and caregivers found that 82% of parents and carers are worried about online dangers, such as cyberbullying, invasion of privacy, offensive images or messages, and online grooming. In addition, recent research by the eSafety Commissioner in Australia found that 1 in 3 teens had experienced bullying-like behaviors whilst playing online games. We love sharing how our partners across the world, such as Anissa Loades at Pregnancy and Family Support Association on the Gold Coast, Australia, are making a difference in their local communities with Triple P training.    Anissa, a provisional psychologist, combines her current role supporting pregnant women and families with a position at Act for Kids, where she first underwent Triple P training thanks to Queensland Government funding.    Anissa has since trained in a broad range of programs, and often uses Triple P resources to give parents practical strategies on the spot:     “Sometimes a parent will mention a problem right at the end of a session… I always have Triple P tip sheets on hand, so I can give them something to take away, and they can read it in their time. Pride Month is a reminder to us all to support and amplify the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community,” Ms. Markie-Dadds said. “Conversations about diversity, inclusion and allyship can start by talking about how all families are different and special, and that everyone deserves respect and kindness, no matter who they love. “It’s also about creating a safe, judgement-free home, where children feel comfortable coming to you with their questions and concerns.” In Triple P’s biggest parenting survey, conducted earlier this year, LGBTQIA+ parents shared their views and opinions on parenting*.   🌈 82% feel confident their child will have a better life than them 🌈 45% said they felt life was more meaningful after becoming a parent 🌈 12% said becoming a parent helped them to feel more connected to their parents, extended family or friends.   🌈 84% are concerned about the impact of social media platforms on their child’s mental health and wellbeing. 🌈 63% experience feelings of guilt at least once a week, which is impacting their mood or making them feel upset (88%) and leading to doubting their abilities as a parent (71%). 🌈 50% are dissatisfied with the amount of time spent on self-care.   Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/ejQFx33J *Note N=355 LGBTQIA+ parents

We’re excited to launch our newest free online parenting program: Family Transitions Triple P Online.    In an Australian first, parents and carers across the country now have access to a free, self-directed online program that is university-developed and based on extensive research with parents who are going through separation or divorce.    Family Transitions Triple P is authored by Dr Helen Stallman and Triple P’s founder, Professor Matt Sanders.     Dr Stallman says, "Parenting can be challenging at the best of times. Add separation or divorce on top of that, and it can become even harder. It's normal for parents and carers to feel concerned about how this big life change may affect their child.”     "The research shows divorce itself isn't harmful to children. Advocating to reduce child maltreatment - a population approach of evidence-based parenting programs Last week, Triple P Founder Professor Matt Sanders presented at the Society for Prevention Research Annual Meeting in Washington. “Child maltreatment can be prevented using a population approach that blends universal and targeted parenting interventions,” said Professor Sanders.
