Making NSW a better place to live, work and visit.

About us

We’re a New South Wales government organisation leading the group of transport agencies and divisions that keep NSW moving. With over 25,000 people working right across NSW, we drive the continual development of safe, integrated and efficient transport systems such as road, rail and maritime networks. We’re committed to delivering better transport for the future of NSW, shaping our cities, centres and communities for generations to come. Right now, we’re delivering an ambitious and once-in-a-generation $72.2 billion program of public infrastructure works – the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia’s history. That means more job opportunities than ever before in metropolitan and regional areas right across the state – and your chance to make a lasting impact that will benefit generations to come. If you think Transport for NSW is home only to engineers, tradies and mechanics, think again. We've got roles you may not expect to see at Transport – from drone operators to graphic designers, Crash Lab technicians to boating safety officers, bridge engineers to demand planners, and all kinds of experts in between. In an organisation that’s as large, diverse and dynamic as Transport for NSW, there are thousands of opportunities. But it’s not just about what we do – it’s the way that we do it. We’re taking a new approach to the way we work. We’re embracing new technology and new ways of working. We’re building an open work culture where our people from a diverse range of backgrounds can thrive and continue to innovate. The road ahead is full of possibility and there’s plenty of work to do. We need great people to help us get it done.

This Saturday is National Threatened Species Day. It's an opportunity to reflect on our collective efforts to safeguard Australia's most vulnerable flora and fauna. 🐸🌱🌳 At Transport, we're committed to protecting biodiversity. From boosting populations of newly discovered plant species to revitalising rainforests cleared over two centuries ago, we are dedicated to enhancing the environments where we operate. However, our work is far from done. By improving and setting the standards, we are strengthening our efforts to regenerate Australia's threatened species. The final stage of Sydney Gateway opened to traffic on Sunday 1 September, providing motorists with a new toll-free connection between the Sydney Airport precinct and wider motorway network. The St Peters Interchange connection is the last element of the Sydney Gateway project and complements the Domestic Terminals flyover, International Terminal connection, New Link Road, New Airport Drive, and Twin Arch bridges – which opened in respective stages from November 2023 onwards. Five kilometres of new motorway will save motorists an estimated 17 minutes between the airport and St Peters Interchange, connecting to the M8, as well as Western Sydney via the M4 and M5. Heavy vehicle traffic on local streets around Mascot will be reduced as up to 10,000 trucks a day, travelling to the airport and Port Botany. Students from across NSW recently visited our STEMC Careers Day to learn about careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Construction (STEMC) at Transport. It’s one way we can help inspire the next generation of STEMC professionals, empowering them with insights on what opportunities are out there and how they can pursue them. Exhibitors at the event had a key focus on building a more inclusive and diverse workforce for the future. The careers day featured hands-on experiments and interactive stands, including splicing fibre-optic cables, building bridges, correct use of personal protective equipment, and virtual reality train technology. Students said they felt “inspired to explore roles they never knew existed”, and that “this whole experience has opened my mind” to learn more about STEMC roles at Transport. Our employees who were part of the event said they had a great time sharing their knowledge and answering questions from the students too. #EntryLevelTalent #STEMC #CareersFair #TransportForNSW

Wear it Purple Day is held on the last Friday of every August. This movement was born out of recognition that LGBTQIA+ youth are significantly more likely to experience bullying and subsequent serious mental health issues. This year’s theme is Your Passion, Your Pride. For young people who identify as LGBTIQA+, it's a powerful shout-out to be themselves and pursue their dreams. It’s an opportunity for us to come together to show support for LGBTQIA+ youth by creating a safe and inclusive future for them. Today we're wearing purple so that rainbow young people know they are celebrated and respected, acknowledging they all have the right to be proud of who they are. Whether an ally or member of the LGBTIQA+ community, we can all be conduits of change. Together, can help build a more inclusive world. 💜 #WearItPurple #Inclusion #Diversity #LGBTQIA #Allyship #TransportForNSW

We’re thrilled to announce that Sydney Gateway is set to officially open on 1 September 2024. 🎉 🛣️ The final stage of this ambitious project involves connecting to the wider motorway network at the St Peters Interchange. Since November 2023, we’ve been gradually opening various stages, including the Deborah Lawrie Flyover into the Domestic Terminals and the two impressive Twin Arch Bridges near the International Terminal. This phased approach has been designed to minimise disruptions for road users. In the bustling city of Newcastle, there lies a lesser-known historical site that holds the echoes of a resilient community. Nestled in the heart of the lively suburb of Jesmond, Lambton Camp, affectionately known as ‘Hollywood’, was a thriving shanty town that existed from the 1920s to the early 1960s. The site where Hollywood once stood now forms part of the footprint of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass, but thanks to the collaborative efforts, the memory of this unique community will not be lost to time. In collaboration with Newcastle Museum and our delivery partners, we've been able to protect the unique oral history of the residents of this town. The exhibition, titled A Place Called Hollywood, has been developed with significant stakeholder and community engagement, including contributions from former residents and their families. We are proud to partner in delivering this exhibition until February and is a great example of how we are protecting heritage in our commitment to sustainability. https://lnkd.in/gvxnkv5p #RegionalNSW #Heritage #Sustainability #PreservingHistory #TransportForNSW

August 19 – 25 is Road Rules Awareness Week. In the first 21 days of camera enforcement of seatbelt usage, data has revealed an alarming rate of people caught out than predicted. Not wearing a seatbelt correctly can have very serious consequences – not buckling up doubles your risk of death if you are involved in a crash. If you’re a driver, remember it’s your responsibility to make sure all your passengers are buckled up correctly – check everyone is wearing their seatbelt before you turn on the ignition. Take the Road Rules Quiz to brush up your road rules knowledge: https://lnkd.in/gfKNRmEF #RoadSafety #RoadRules #NSWRoads #TowardsZero #TransportForNSW

The Coffs Harbour Bypass project has reached new milestones, including: 🌉 The first trusses for the Luke Bowen pedestrian bridge are arriving. The new bridge, which spans eight lanes of traffic to a new bus interchange, provides safe access for pedestrians and cyclists. 🏗️ Plank installation is now complete at the Englands Road Interchange Pacific Highway northbound offramp bridge. 👷🏻♂️ Placing the concrete sub-base pavement layer at the Englands Road Interchange western roundabout. To showcase these milestones (plus many more), we've produced an updated photobook featuring a mix of drone and ground photography. The Photobook offers a bird' s-eye view and an inside look at key construction activities, including earthworks, structures, and tunnelling. https://lnkd.in/gwxixgzp #RegionalNSW #NSWRoads #RoadSafety #Construction #TransportForNSW
