The countdown is on for the inaugural Pair’d Margaret River Region, Western Australia’s new homegrown wine and food event, and new flight sales make it easy for East Coast travellers to directly access the fun. The newly launched WA Dream Sale offers fantastic sale fares from Melbourne and Sydney direct to Busselton Margaret River Airport, making accessing the festival even more affordable. Additional tantalising events have recently been announced for Pair’d, including a wine quiz at South West Wine Shop, a gourmet dinner at Amelia Park Cellar Door and Restaurant, and a Closing Party set to take over the main street of Margaret River town. The full bountiful program lineup includes Margaret’s Beach Club; Tasting events, including a Grand Tasting at Howard Park and New Wave Gathering at Skigh Wine; a Collaborative series featuring a Night Hawker Market at Chow’s Table and dinners at premium wineries; and an Origin Series, a partnership with more than 15 local venues featuring unique food and wine pairings. Tourism WA is the State Government agency responsible for promoting Western Australia as an extraordinary holiday and business event destination. We focus on marketing the state; developing, attracting and promoting major sporting, arts, cultural and business events; and supporting major projects that will draw visitors to particular destinations. We work in partnership with the private sector, industry and government to develop WA's iconic tourism experiences and promote them locally, nationally and internationally. Tourism WA is a statutory authority under the portfolio of the Minister for Tourism and is governed by a board of Commissioners. The agency was established under the Western Australian Tourism Commission Act 1983.

Cathay Pacific has recently expanded its services between Hong Kong and Perth, with additional flights set to further boost visitor numbers into Western Australia. The airline will nearly double its current flight schedule from six to eleven flights per week, introducing an additional 70,000 inbound seats into Western Australia each year. These new flights will further solidify WA’s reputation as Australia’s Western Gateway and boost tourism opportunities between Hong Kong and WA, with Cathay Pacific offering connections to over 200 destinations across Asia, Europe and North America. Tourism WA has launched the ‘Western Australia Dream Sale’ today, a $3.5 million marketing blitz to attract travellers from Australia’s east coast. This sale invites interstate visitors to “dream a little more, for a little (or a lot) less,” offering discounted travel deals to explore all WA has to offer. It includes a flight sale with Webjet, offering $100 off airfares into all five of WA’s tourism regions, plus compelling offers from WA tourism businesses, after industry was invited to take part. Tourism WA is also giving away $25,000 worth of ‘Dreamy Freebies’ to customers who book an experience through the sale and submit their booking details on westernaustralia.com for a chance to win their experience for free. In addition, a major cooperative partnership campaign with Helloworld Travel, is being promoted in over 200 Helloworld outlets across Australia.

Tourism Australia recently opened seller applications for the Australian Tourism Exchange 2025 (ATE) to be held in Brisbane from 27 April to 1 May 2025. ATE is renowned as the national tourism industry’s largest annual business event, providing the opportunity to connect with global distribution partners via scheduled business appointments and networking events. The world's best tennis players are set to serve up exciting tennis action at the United Cup, which returns to Perth in December. The official draw was live streamed on Monday, With Perth snagging major US drawcards Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz, and Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas as well as teams China, Canada, Germany, Spain, Kazakhstan and Brazil. All countries will take to the court at Perth’s RAC Arena over six action packed days, commencing on Friday 27 December. The Perth leg of the tournament will culminate in two quarterfinal matches on New Year's Day. Plus, a multicultural festival will add vibrancy to The Plaza at RAC Arena during the event. The United Cup is becoming a highlight of WAs blockbuster events calendar, drawing out-of-state visitors and injecting millions of dollars into the state’s economy in 2023 and 2024. This week we have been delighted to host G’Day Australia in Perth/Boorloo in partnership with Tourism Australia and showcase Western Australia to 300 leading travel agents from across the globe. This key trade event has provided an incredible opportunity for Aussie Specialist Agents to experience our Dream State firsthand and learn how to sell WA’s unique destinations and experiences. A Destination Showcase was held on Tuesday evening, which was a valuable opportunity to share more about WA’s aviation links and experiences. As part of the event, 20 one-day familiarisations were held on Monday, giving all 300 agents the opportunity to explore Destination Perth on exciting day tour itineraries. Highlights included sightseeing in Fremantle/Walyalup; a seafood cruise off Rottnest Island/Wadjemup; sand boarding in Lancelin; and wine tasting in the Swan Valley. In further aviation wins for Perth as Australia’s Western Gateway, non-stop services between Tokyo and Perth resumed this week, while South African Airways is set to increase services from December. The All Nippon Airways service between Tokyo and Perth first recommenced in October 2023 for an initial six-month seasonal service and has returned again with three flights per week, supporting an additional 17,000 inbound seats into WA in the coming five months. South African Airways is increasing the frequency of its non-stop service between Johannesburg and Perth from December 2024 with a fourth weekly flight from 8 December, upscaling to five services per week from 7 January 2025. There are only a few more days to apply for Tourism WA’s 2025 Trade Ready Introduction Program (TRIP) before expressions of interest close at 5pm this Friday, 18 October (AWST). The program supports trade-ready tourism operators to expand into interstate and international markets, with participants receiving stepped financial assistance, including up to $6,700 to cover 100 per cent of trade event registration costs in the first year. The inaugural 2024 TRIP cohort comprised 10 experienced WA operators who participated in networking and industry events, received hands-on support in preparing for and attending trade events and built valuable B2B connections.
