Creating a single integrated network accessible to everyone.

About us

We are a department of more than 8,800 employees across the state. Our vision is to create a single integrated network accessible to everyone. No department has a bigger role to play in keeping the Queensland of today moving, or in helping build for the future. Each year we have more than 3.6 million face-to-face interactions with Queenslanders and more than 6.7 million transactions using online service channels. We are responsible for around 80 percent of all government counter transactions. We are an exciting place to work, with an enormous scope of work incorporating 79 different occupational areas. Every day Queenslanders rely on the transport network to get them to work, to school, and to health care. As the most decentralised state in Australia, transport is a key driver of economic growth, and we are at the front line of planning, developing and maintaining the extensive network required to keep Queensland moving. We lead emerging technologies so our transport network meets the needs of our customers now and into the future. We deliver our core business through four key services: • Transport system investment planning and programming – focused on developing policy frameworks for the future development of the transport system and to plan and prioritise strategic investment in effective, efficient and sustainable integrated transport infrastructure, systems and services • Transport infrastructure management and delivery – focused on constructing, maintaining, managing and operating an integrated transport network accessible to all • Transport safety, regulation and customer service – focused on improving customer service and managing and regulating the transport system safely, economically and sustainably and without imposing unnecessary red tape • Passenger transport services – focused on leading and shaping Queensland’s overall passenger transport system. Ultimately, we bring Queensland closer together.

  • Today is Merchant Navy Day! 🌊⚓ We're proud to spotlight mariners like Jennifer Tumbers and the vital role they play in our maritime industry. Jennifer discovered her love for the ocean at 14, leading her to a remarkable career that has spanned both sea and shore. After high school, she embarked on a cadetship with BHP Transport, often as the only female onboard. Jennifer became an AMSA Port State Control Surveyor, conducting vessel inspections and contributing to maritime labour rights legislation. Now, as Executive Director Waterways Management at Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ), she manages Queensland's waterways with expertise and dedication. Merchant Navy Day also honours the sacrifices of mariners during both world wars. More than 800 Australian merchant mariners lost their lives transporting military personnel and supplies. At MSQ, many staff have a merchant navy background. Today, we salute them and celebrate our rich maritime heritage. #MaritimeSafetyQld #MaritimeSafety #MaritimeIndustry #MerchantNavyDay #weareTMR

  • We've wrapped up our latest community engagement activities for the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project, and your feedback has been invaluable. In case you missed it, back in November and December 2023, we gathered valuable feedback on the latest designs for the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project. We're now in the process of using your feedback to inform the procurement activities currently underway. Once contractors are appointed, your input will continue to guide further design developments. The engagement summary is available now at https://lnkd.in/g_RN2FmY. Thank you to everyone in the community who took the time to share your thoughts and priorities. Together, we're making strides towards a more connected and efficient transportation system for Logan and the Gold Coast. Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail is part of Queensland’s Big Build. The Queensland Government is continuing to deliver the economic and social infrastructure needed to support our growing state. This project is jointly funded by the Australian Government and the Queensland Government.

  • Today, we proudly wear purple in support of Wear it Purple Day, standing with LGBTIQ+ youth and their families worldwide 💜🌈 Wear it Purple Day reminds us of the importance of creating safe and supportive environments where everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. By wearing purple, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a culture of acceptance and belonging. Let's use this day, and every day, to spark conversations, challenge stereotypes, and advocate for LGBTIQ+ rights. • Exciting announcement for bike riding Queenslanders! 🚲 We’ve just released a new strategy that identifies what is needed to help make bike parking at public transport across South East Queensland more consistent, convenient and safe. ‘Bicycle parking at public transport: A strategy for South East Queensland’ sets out the Queensland Government’s vision and priorities for the future planning, design and delivery of appropriate bicycle parking at all modes of public transport in the region, to encourage more people to ride a bike to access public transport, more often. It was informed by input from SEQ residents, active transport peak bodies and Bicycle User Groups, and developed in collaboration with other Queensland Government departments and local government authorities. We will lead implementation of the strategy, which will be delivered through targeted actions in future two-year Queensland Cycling Action Plans. Find out more and read the strategy at https://brnw.ch/21wMbIh

  • Ever wondered how we explore underground before building a major rail line? 🚂 Geotechnical investigations are now underway for the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line project with the arrival of our drill rig! After we carefully transport this heavy machinery to site, our team collects samples to help us better understand what’s below 🔍 These samples are tested to help us in designing a rail line that’s safe, sustainable, and tailored to our unique Sunshine Coast geology.
