Creating a single integrated network accessible to everyone.

About us

We are a department of more than 8,800 employees across the state. Our vision is to create a single integrated network accessible to everyone. No department has a bigger role to play in keeping the Queensland of today moving, or in helping build for the future. Each year we have more than 3.6 million face-to-face interactions with Queenslanders and more than 6.7 million transactions using online service channels. We are responsible for around 80 percent of all government counter transactions. We are an exciting place to work, with an enormous scope of work incorporating 79 different occupational areas. Every day Queenslanders rely on the transport network to get them to work, to school, and to health care. As the most decentralised state in Australia, transport is a key driver of economic growth, and we are at the front line of planning, developing and maintaining the extensive network required to keep Queensland moving. We lead emerging technologies so our transport network meets the needs of our customers now and into the future. We deliver our core business through four key services: • Transport system investment planning and programming – focused on developing policy frameworks for the future development of the transport system and to plan and prioritise strategic investment in effective, efficient and sustainable integrated transport infrastructure, systems and services • Transport infrastructure management and delivery – focused on constructing, maintaining, managing and operating an integrated transport network accessible to all • Transport safety, regulation and customer service – focused on improving customer service and managing and regulating the transport system safely, economically and sustainably and without imposing unnecessary red tape • Passenger transport services – focused on leading and shaping Queensland’s overall passenger transport system. Ultimately, we bring Queensland closer together.

  • Steering you to safety! New safety videos for truckies travelling through Cunninghams Gap 🎥 🚚 As part of our ongoing engagement with the Queensland Trucking Association Ltd (QTA) we have developed two new safety videos to assist heavy vehicle and oversize overmass (OSOM) drivers navigate the worksite at Cunninghams Gap on the Cunningham Highway. These videos focus on critical safety advice for drivers, including how to manage steep descents and use nearby OSOM holding bays, while bushfire recovery works continue in the area. The safety videos can be viewed below. https://lnkd.in/gMKtwewJ The recovery works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

  • Safe Work Month is here, and we're all in! 🔒 At TMR, safety isn’t just a priority for October - it’s a commitment we uphold every day. As we kick off Safe Work Month, supported by Safe Work Australia and WorkSafe Queensland, we’re reminded of the crucial role each of us plays in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. This month encourages us to take a closer look at our safety practices and reflect on how we can continue to improve. But remember, safety is not just a one-month focus - it’s woven into everything we do, every day. We’re also gearing up for Queensland Mental Health Week (5 – 13 October), a time to highlight the incredible ways our teams are promoting mental health awareness and building a strong sense of community across our Queensland workplaces. Thank you for being a part of our ongoing commitment to safety.

  • We’re delighted to announce the successful recipients of our 2024-25 Bike Riding Encouragement Program Community Grants! More than $500,000 in grant funding has been awarded to support 37 community-led initiatives aimed at encouraging new and returning riders of all ages and abilities to experience the joy of riding a bike. Successful initiatives include programs to help more women start riding bikes, bike and e-bike borrowing schemes to provide more opportunities for people with disability and people in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ride, learn-to-ride sessions and bike buses to support more children riding to school, and digital innovations to equip more Queenslanders to ride regardless of their location. These grants are a key action in the Queensland Cycling Action Plan 2023–2025, and part of the Queensland Government’s holistic approach to growing the number of Queenslanders who ride bikes for transport, recreation and wellbeing. We're excited to see these initiatives come to life across the next 12 months in communities across Queensland 🚴♀️🚴♂️ 👉 View the list of successful grant recipients at https://lnkd.in/gxQigvZ. #BikeRidingGrants #BikeRiding #Cycling #Queensland

Martinus Degnan Joint Venture (JV) will start construction later this year on the new Loganlea station, relocating and upgrading the station to better connect customers to nearby health, education, and community services. The $173.76 million project will see the station relocate to a new site directly opposite Logan Hospital, and closer to Loganlea TAFE and Loganlea State High School. The current station will remain open until the new and improved Loganlea station is built. • On behalf of the Queensland Government, we are proud to support Melt Festival, produced by Brisbane Powerhouse. This open-access festival of LGBTQIA+ arts and culture runs from 23 October to 10 November, celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies. We’re excited to participate in several events across the festival, including Melt Markets X Queer Slice on 27 October, and the inaugural River Pride Parade on 9 November. As a diverse and inclusive workplace, we strive to create an environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. Participation in events like this wouldn’t be possible without the support of our OneTMR Pride Network. We are proud to champion these important initiatives so that we may continue to demonstrate our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and the advancement of equality in Queensland. #MeltFestival #QueenslandPride #WeareTMR

  • We've just released the last of four master plans for the priority Ports of Hay Point/Mackay and Abbot Point. This delivers on a commitment in the Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan and marks a major milestone for the department. The master plans and port overlays are a significant initiative, looking far beyond the port boundary to ensure the ecologically sustainable development of priority ports while protecting the Great Barrier Reef. Our teams worked collaboratively with North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation Limited, Mackay and Whitsunday Regional Councils, state and federal agencies and other stakeholders to prepare the master plans. The community input to this process was instrumental in the development of necessary environmental protections required in the master planned areas, in particular at the Port of Mackay. Thanks to our close work with the community, several significant changes were made to the draft documentation based on feedback during consultations. You can take a look at the master plans here: https://lnkd.in/gt7D7eWa https://lnkd.in/gBVG83WM
