I’m thrilled to share that I’ve wrapped up my internship as a Tour Operations Assistant at Renaissance Tours Australia. This journey has been unforgettable and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who made it such a meaningful experience. Thank you, Professor Garth Lean for believing in me from day one. Your encouragement helped me overcome my initial hesitations, giving me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new challenges. Your guidance and faith meant everything to me from the very start and I am deeply appreciative. To Evan Petrelis, thank you for welcoming me into the Renaissance Tours family and for all the small yet invaluable lessons along the way. You gave me the chance to contribute and grow, showing me the ropes of the industry with kindness and patience that extended beyond just work. From thoughtful communication to treating everyone with respect, I’m grateful for your guidance and for the opportunity to learn from you. To Madoka Yamaguchi, thank you for the warm welcome and throughout my internship, your support and guidance have meant so much to me. Your warmth, openness and dedication to turning every mistake into a learning opportunity have left a lasting impact. I’m grateful for everything you’ve shared and for the connection we built. Finally, to the Operations team, Client Service team, Product team, and everyone at Renaissance Tours—thank you for welcoming me so warmly and making me feel like part of the Renaissance Tours family. It has been an honor and a privilege to learn from such a dedicated and talented group. Working alongside each of you has truly enriched my experience. I’m delighted to share that I’ll be continuing with Renaissance Tours as a casual Tour Operations Assistant! I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to keep learning, growing, and contributing. Feeling fortunate and excited for the journey ahead with such an incredible team!

🗺️Reflecting on My Internship Journey at OZ Travel Consulting Services PTY LTD! ✈️ During a period of over six weeks, I had the wonderful opportunity to work as a trainee Travel consultant at OZ Travel Consultancy Services Ltd, where I gained invaluable knowledge and experience: ✅ I deepened my understanding of popular destinations in Australia and New Zealand, such as the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef. This allowed me to provide personalized recommendations to clients. ✅ I gained hands-on experience with IATA codes, improving my technical skills for more accurate and efficient bookings—a crucial competency in tourism. ✅ I enhanced my customer service and communication skills through direct client interactions. Actively listening, adapting to diverse needs, and managing feedback have been invaluable skills that I will carry forward. ✅ I designed customized travel itineraries for clients, ensuring each journey reflected their preferences, whether they were adventure seekers or looking for a leisurely escape. Looking forward, I aim to continue growing in tourism, focusing on developing my ability to handle complex itineraries and learning about digital tools in personalized travel services. This experience has inspired me to further my expertise and keep delivering value to clients. Special thanks to my supervisor, Jacky Tang, for his mentorship and support. And thanks my program coordinator, Garth Lean for guidance throughout this journey.

I recently completed my placement at Pont3. I wanted to express my sincere gratitude and a huge thank you for the opportunity to work at Pont3. Working with such a dynamic team has been incredibly rewarding, and I have learned so much. I deeply appreciate all the guidance and kind support Melissa Farrelly, Jasmine Billett, and the team have provided throughout this journey. I had the exciting opportunity to be involved in assisting one of the large-scale events, the Sydney Marathon. From event preparation and packing essential supplies in the warehouse to assisting directly on event day, each experience brought new knowledge and insights. I gained hands-on experience in event logistics, teamwork, and the importance of preparation behind the scenes to make large-scale events run smoothly. All these experiences allowed me to develop valuable skills in event management and contribute to various exciting projects. I truly admire Pont3’s incredible planning, management, and collaboration within the company and across other organisations, every moment was a learning experience for me. I am so grateful for this invaluable experience and the opportunity to work with a team that is dedicated, passionate, and committed to delivering excellence. I had a wonderful time at Pont3, and I look forward to applying all these skills in my future endeavours. Pont3 Pty Ltd Garth Lean Tourism, Hospitality and Events — Western Sydney University

My placement at SKYE Suites Parramatta gave me great experiences towards stepping into my future career. I experienced several departments, including front desk, event operation, housekeeping, and accountant, which opened my gaze to see what a hotel job is and what professionalism is like. More importantly, not only their service but also its people, are amazing, which is my biggest impression through this placement program. I would say that is why, SKYE Suites is loved by a lot of guests. I appreciate this opportunity and the people who mixed up with me. ▫️Professor at Western Sydney University ▫️Co Editor-in-Chief - Tourism Geographies ▫️Co-Chair World Economic Forum GFC on Future of Sustainable Tourism ▫️Associate Dean International, School of Social Sciences, WSU
In Sanya, Hainan Island, China, we’ve just concluded the inaugural Tourism Coastal City Summit - an Asia Pacific initiative. Hosted by the Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, TV and Sports of Sanya City and the Sanya Tourism Board, and in cooperation with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), the event was a raging success. Around 200 delegates from across destinations in the Asia Pacific region, including ASEAN and Pacific Islands Forum countries met to plot a path forward for tourism in tropical coastal cities. This event is a precursor for greater cooperation and knowledge sharing within the tourism sector across the region. In sum, and as Harng Luh Sin, Mary Mostafanezhad and I articulated in our book, “Recentering Tourism Geographies in the Asian Century”, the Asia Pacific region is poised to be a focal point for global tourism developments as exemplified by broader economic and geopolitical shifts from West to East. See https://lnkd.in/gZ2u4EaU With opening addresses from UN Tourism Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Mr Harry Hwang; Sanya Tourism Promotion Board Director General Mr Albert Yip; PATA Ambassador for Greater China, Mr Soon Hwa Wong; Mr Weizheng Fan, Vice Mayor of the People’s Government of Sanya City; and PATA CEO Mr Noor Ahmad Hamid, the groundwork for this groundbreaking cooperative agreement was set. In my keynote, "Beyond the Beach: The Shift Towards Deeper, Meaningful Travel Experiences" I emphasised the need for harmony between the economic, environmental and sociocultural exigencies. Additionally, intraregional and domestic travel, often underrated, might be a key pillar of the region’s future tourism trajectory. Other luminaries including Hannah Pearson, Gary Bowerman; Lucia Zeeard, Khoo Boo Lim CHA; Charlotte Magnette; Catherine Germier-Hamel; Azrul Shah Mohamad; Robert Taylor; Shiuree Ibrahim; Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz; Paul Pruangkarn; I Gusti Putu Yaktianuraga, Joel Keimelo, Daren Moodely and more. To finish things off with a bang, Typhoon Yagi has left a large number of delegates stranded in Sanya, with contingency plans taking shape.
