Australia's Best Workplace for Fathers 2024 Ansvar Insurance Australia shares how their policies have directly impacted their employees who have families. Equal caregiving isn’t just essential for child wellbeing and development – it’s a cornerstone of thriving workplaces. Organisations that prioritise their employees’ family needs can expect reduced turnover, heightened productivity, and a strengthened culture that values family wellbeing. To stay ahead, workplaces must go beyond implementing family-supportive policies; they need to foster a culture that actively promotes shared caregiving responsibilities from the top-down. Hear from Kate Klease General Manager, People and Culture on how Ansvar are leading the way in supporting their staff! We're Fathers First
About us
Founded in 2013 by Professor Bruce Robinson in Western Australia, The Fathering Project now has a national footprint in metro, rural and remote communities across the country. The Fathering Project is a secular not-for-profit organisation which provides research-based programs and resources to engage, inform, equip and support fathers, father figures, families, schools, corporates and community organisations. We aim to connect the community to build brighter futures for our children. The research says when fathers are engaged and equipped to be the best they can be, it has significant benefits for a child’s health and wellbeing. Dads Groups are the Project’s core activity and are established within schools and community groups across the country. The groups provide a safe, inclusive and positive environment where father-figures can learn, share, grow and connect with each other, and their kids. The Fathering Project also conducts regular research, evaluating its programs, as well as looking more broadly into societal trends and issues that impact fatherhood.

Happy World Teachers' Day! 🙌🏻💙 Today, (and every day) we celebrate and recognise the incredible dedication of teachers who go above and beyond to shape young minds and help them to build a bright future. At The Fathering Project, we’ve seen firsthand the positive impact teachers have in the day to day lives of their students – not just in academics, but in fostering their wellbeing, mental health and early development. A special shout out to the teachers and school leaders who also understand the vital role of fathers and father figures in their school communities and work tirelessly to support our school programs. Your work is vital, and your influence lasts a lifetime. 🙌👩🏫👨🏫 Let’s give a big shout out to all the teachers making a difference!

Becoming a parent often brings moments of clarity about how your own parents raised you, and how it shapes your own parenting style. You might recall times when you now understand they had your best interests at heart – or moments where you swore you'd never be "that parent." "I'm starting to see that this is the phase where you become the parent you swore never to be. Inquisitive when it’s least welcome. (“And what did you do at school today?”) A pedant. (“It can’t be ‘nothing’, you cannot have spent a whole day at school doing ‘nothing’.”) Needy. (“You used to tell me things.”) Sulky. (“I won’t ask again.”) Inconsistent. The way we were raised leaves a lasting mark, for better, or, highlights areas we want to change in our own parenting approach. We would love to hear how your parenting style has been influenced, or changed, by your own upbringing... Do you think how you were raised plays a big part?

A few of the Sydney team were lucky enough to attend this year's SXSW Sydney with thanks to Mike Gore and the team at Charitabl who generously provided complimentary access. It was an inspiring few days where we heard from thought leaders, experts in their field and personal stories from business leaders and advocates. Some highlights from this week: ✨ We heard from Canva's Co-Founder Melanie Perkins who shared her inspiring journey of building Canva from the ground up, a powerful reminder of what’s possible with determination and vision. 💡Business leaders and founders discussed the reality of balancing parenting and work. They challenged that there is no perfect 'work-life balance' but instead emphasised the concept of trade-offs in making it all work as parents. 🤝 Grace Tame spoke with Associate Professor Campbell Wilson, sharing her story and discussing the harrowing and extremely concerning statistics on child exploitation in the digital world. They highlighted the importance of keeping children educated using resources like eSafety Commissioner as tools. 🎬 An engaging panel discussion with a few of the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Australia content team exploring the balance between creating entertaining yet educational content – something we strive for in all our resources. 🎙️ To wrap it up, we enjoyed a live podcast with The Wiggles and Genevieve Muir who shared tips on parenting toddlers. Stay tuned – Gen will be joining us on our podcast in just a few weeks! #SXSW24 #Parenting #WorkLifeBalance #ChildSafety
