💀 Listing Maternity Leave on Your Resume is Career Suicide...? 💀 We received a DM the other day: "Should I mention my maternity leave on my resume, or is it career suicide?" The responses were... predictable: ✅ "Yes, because employers need to know the truth." ❌ "Leave it out. Why risk missing out on interviews when you could just hide it?" ✅ "Put it in! If an employer cares, you’ve dodged a bullet. But hey, no pressure." ❌ "Absolutely not, that kind of bias is sooo 1980s. Why do they need to know?" So... what's the answer? "It depends"? Maybe it depends on how long your leave is or whether you're staying in the same company. Or should we all just admit this conversation is bananas? Here’s the truth: Why are we even asking this in 2024? 🙃 We’ve still got a mountain of work ahead of us to crush the bias around taking time off to grow a tiny human. The real question is: why should taking maternity leave feel like a crime when it’s literally life? What’s your take? 👇

Level 39: Workplace Embarrassment Unlocked 🙈🍱 Shoutout to OP for sending in this gem — because who hasn’t made a mistake like this at least once in their career? 😅 We’ve all been there: the lunchtime rush, a quick grab from the office fridge, only to realise you've accidentally heated up someone else's meal. Hopefully, you haven't also proceeded to eat it too. Thankfully, the owner of the (now warm) red container, has recovered their lunch (and even taken up an offer for a free meal!) Moments like these remind us that no matter how “corporate” we get, we’re all just humans navigating awkward moments at work. Drop your funniest office mishap in the comments! Let’s get real about those everyday (and embarrassing) work fails.

😢 The sad reality: R U OK? Day exists because we need the reminder 😢 We shouldn’t have to be reminded to check in on each other’s mental health—but here we are. We’re all so often caught up in the hustle, the billables, the grind, that we overlook the warning signs—both in ourselves and in others. It’s not that we don’t care. It’s that, somewhere along the way, well-being became secondary. We glorify burnout as a badge of honour, celebrate the grind, and accept stress like it’s part of the job description. Now, imagine a world where we don’t need to ask "R U OK?" because our way of working has already embraced the essence of this day. A world where we check in regularly, and where wellbeing isn’t an afterthought, but the foundation of everything we do. We know the reality: this message will likely slip away soon, lost in the rush of deadlines and demands (at some companies maybe even by EOD today). Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Every CEO and business leader should spend at least one day a week doing grunt work — whether it’s formatting powerpoint slides, running spell checks or crunching numbers. Take this photo as an example: The ex-CEO of Woolworths, Brad Banducci, once the head of a supermarket titan, stepping behind the cash register like any other team member. But why stop there? Imagine a CFO inputting data into spreadsheets or a managing partner of a law firm running a cross-reference check. Here’s why it matters: 👉 EMPATHY – You start to forget about the grind unless you continually live it. 👉 TRUST – Being on the ground shows you’re not just a distant figure in the corner office. 👉 Problem-solving – The best insights come from working on the ground. See this as an opportunity for inspiration. 👉 Culture – No task should be beneath anyone. Real leaders lead by example. Stop thinking in terms of "junior" vs. "senior" tasks. Leadership means understanding every part of the business—from the boardroom to the trenches.

🤯 I’VE BEEN MONITORED AT WORK. HERE’S WHAT I’VE LEARNT… 🤯 Last week, I discovered that my every move at the office has been tracked—emails, screen time, even my bathroom breaks. At first, I was SHOCKED. Is this what corporate life has come to? Am I just a number on a spreadsheet? But after taking a deep breath and reflecting, here’s what I’ve learnt: Being monitored is a gift. Why? Let me break it down for you: 1️⃣ ACCOUNTABILITY – Every click is a reminder to stay focused, stay sharp. 🖱️ The world’s watching, and that makes me better. 2️⃣ TRANSPARENCY – If my boss knows exactly what I’m doing, then I know I’m fully seen. No more flying under the radar. 3️⃣ GRATITUDE – They wouldn’t monitor me if they didn’t care! You’re only watched if you’re worth watching. 💡 So what is the key takeaway? Appreciate the fact your company is pouring resources into surveillance — use that spotlight to THRIVE. I can honestly say that it has pushed me to become the best version of myself, day in, day out. This is my time to shine brighter, hustle harder, and rise to every challenge. So, if you’re being watched… don’t stress. Take it as a sign that you’re on the right path. Keep going, keep growing, and prove them right for keeping their eyes on you.

ITS HERE! BASE salaries only (incl of super). We are finally releasing the grad salary survey results from earlier this year after processing a huge number of submissions. These reflect salaries for grads commencing in 2024 so do not include any pay bumps for grads over the course of their grad program this year. For consistency, we have also included superannuation in the figures (despite some industries not typically including super in their quoted package). These salaries are also based on survey results so they are UNVERIFIED, but should give a good guide as to where the market is at right now. We don’t purport to be publishing the official salaries but only the survey results submitted by our community. The easiest way to check this out is via our new jobs platform designed for jobseekers and employers in corporate Australia! To access it… ↳ Go to www.auscorp.jobs ↳ Click “Grad Salaries” in the menu If there are any corrections/updates for grad salaries commencing 2024, please DM or email us!

Excited to finally launch our AusCorp Jobs website!... the website is literally www.auscorp.jobs The team has been working super hard behind the scenes to get this new jobs board platform up and running. Amidst all the gloomy news of cuts around AusCorp, we wanted to provide an avenue for employers to connect with job seekers in an easy, clean and quick way. We are already getting plenty of posts on the platform and hope to grow this exponentially over the next few months. Companies / HR / Recruiters, please take a chance to check out our platform and post your vacancies. We are currently offering this free of charge in light of redundancies happening everywhere so there’s every incentive here if you need a spot filled! The platform will continually evolve so please do let us know if you have any feedback or comments!
