  • This National Child Protection Week, we’re celebrating the incredible work of our team. Today, we're shining a spotlight on Bobbi, our Senior Aboriginal Community Worker for the Katherine Big Rivers team! 👏 As a local Aboriginal woman with 3 generations removed in her family, it’s a challenging sector for Bobbi to work in, but she is passionate about making a positive impact on the children and families she supports. She began her journey with our Child Protection team in 2022 and rejoined in February 2023 after starting in the Carer Services business unit. Before joining our department, Bobbi worked with the Department of Education as a Student Engagement Officer. Bobbi now travels throughout the Big Rivers region, visiting remote communities and supporting families. She is grateful to work with a fabulous and caring team, who all enjoy a laugh and work with each other's strengths to uplift one another. Thank you, Bobbi, for your dedication and hard work! 🌟 To learn more about Child Protection or see how you can make a difference, visit 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gDFbWfi7

  • Remote Housing residents are saying goodbye to pesky pests with the Pest Control Pilot program! 👋🐜 This initiative aims to improve living standards in remote public housing across 33 communities by focusing on prevention rather than cure. Tenants receive two treatments, six months apart, along with education on how to keep pests away. We're working alongside health services, like Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation in East Arnhem, to host info sessions and provide ‘Healthy Homes’ packs. Together with our pest control partners, we’re committed to creating safer, healthier homes. 📸 Arafura Pest Control technician, Daniel with local resident Leslie.

  • After 4 years of dedication, our Top End Region team proudly opened the new Maningrida Service Hub (Nja-kkala, meaning sandfly). This milestone event brought together TFHC staff, key stakeholders, NTG partners, Dhukurrdji Traditional Owners and the local community. The hub offers integrated services for all age groups, including child protection, family support, and housing, along with a large meeting room, children’s playground, and outdoor meeting area. The design reflects local heritage, featuring a Maningrida mud brick wall. This site holds deep historical significance as the former Batchelor Institute, where many local residents received training and represents a successful collaboration between our facilities team, Top End Region team and Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics. 📸 Image 1: A/CEO Brent Warren, cutting the ribbon with local community members to the refurbished hub. • This year during National Volunteer Week, our Sport and Recreation team seized the opportunity to make a meaningful impact! Raising funds through Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW) Day and helping out Riding for the Disabled Top End Inc, a non-for-profit organisation, with paddock tidying, stable cleaning and horse grooming. WOW Day recognises State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers, and we supported it with a morning tea and donations. National Volunteer Week, from May 20 to 26, celebrated the incredible contributions of volunteers. Shout out to the 34,500 Territorians who support sports through volunteering - "3 Cheers for Volunteers"! Amazing work team! 👏
