Last week, our CEO Nic Brown and Founder Dr Daniel Nour were honored to be invited to a BBQ hosted by NSW Premier, Chris Minns, in Parramatta. The event was a celebration of regional NSW, Western Sydney, and the incredible cultural diversity that makes up modern Australia. It was a privilege to be among community leaders, volunteers, and individuals excelling in their fields, sharing stories and experiences that reflect the heart and spirit of our state. The event also showcased some of the best produce from NSW, supported by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, and it was amazing to have the King visit our backyard in Parramatta! We’re proud to support such a vibrant, diverse community, and it was a great opportunity to connect with those making a difference across the state.

A huge shout out to Mediscrubs Pty Ltd for their incredible generosity! Since day one, they’ve been donating scrubs to support our team, and this year alone, they’ve provided over 200 new scrubs for our volunteers across all clinics. Thanks for helping us keep our volunteers looking sharp while they provide essential care!

Last week, our CEO Nic Brown had the privilege of attending the inaugural DECJUBA Foundation Summit. DECJUBA is generously supporting Street Side Medics in our expansion to Melbourne, helping us continue to provide essential healthcare services to those experiencing homelessness. The Summit brought together DECJUBA Foundation charity partners and changemakers for an inspiring day of connection and collaboration. Attendees were treated to a VIP, behind-the-scenes experience with The Australian Ballet and heard from DECJUBA’s owner and CEO, Tania Austin, as well as Dr. Samantha Nutt, founder and president of War Child, who shared her incredible journey and insights. A highlight of the day was a panel session led by DECJUBA Foundation General Manager Gill Whelan, featuring for purpose leaders like Hunter Johnson, CEO of The Man Cave, Sarah La Roche, CEO of Smiling Mind, and others. They offered invaluable insights into increasing funding through thought leadership, advocacy, and building trust. The day wrapped up with a celebration on the DECJUBA rooftop, where everyone enjoyed food, drinks, and the chance to build connections with fellow DECJUBA Foundation friends. It was an inspiring day, and we’re excited for the impact we can make together!

It was a real privilege yesterday for Daniel Nour and I to be invited by Her Excellency, the Governor-General Samantha Mostyn to Admiralty House to discuss the work of Street Side Medics. We had a really meaningful conversation about the work we’re doing, and we were grateful for the chance to share our progress in making healthcare more accessible for people experiencing homelessness. Her Excellency has been a long-time supporter of SSM, having already visited our clinic in Marrickville a number of times. Our discussion also touched on our mutual optimism for the future of Australia. While we acknowledged the significant challenges that lie ahead, particularly in addressing the needs of our most vulnerable, we are united in our belief that these issues can be overcome through collective action and working together across the community. So a big thank you to Her Excellency for not only believing in what we do but for taking a significant amount of time out of her day to hear our stories and share the willingness to continue to support Street Side Medics mission. The cup of tea with that view went down pretty well too…. #leadership #healthcare #socialimpact #homelessness #equity #streetsidemedics
