On November 1st, SkyCity Adelaide was awarded at the Tourism Industry Council SA (TiCSA) South Australian Tourism Awards. Eos by SkyCity hotel won the 5 Star Luxury Accommodation category, with Events at SkyCity awarded silver in the Business Event Venues category.   Last Friday, representatives from across the South Australian tourism industry gathered at Adelaide Oval to celebrate their achievements and connect with their fellow finalists.   The South Australian Tourism Awards program, delivered annually by TiCSA with the support of the South Australian Government through the South Australian Tourism Commission, recognises business excellence and outstanding achievement in the state’s tourism industry.   Michael Neal, General Manager of Hospitality at SkyCity Adelaide, said: “Eos set out to create a new benchmark in luxury accommodation in the CBD, and we’ve certainly achieved that. On Tuesday night SkyCity Adelaide had the opportunity to participate in the Ronald McDonald House Charities South Australia Meals from the Heart program again. Ronald McDonald House provides programs that accommodate and support families with a sick or injured child. It’s a place where families can remain together as a family unit in times of stress and uncertainly. The incredibly talented SkyCity team, led by Paul Barton and with the support of the Madame Hanoi, Events at SkyCity and SOL Rooftop chefs, crafted gourmet meals for the most deserving of families, delivering a little comfort during their challenging times. SkyCity Adelaide has won three awards at the 2024 Restaurant & Catering Australia Hostplus Awards for Excellence for South Australia. Events at SkyCity took home awards in the Event/Convention Centre Caterer and Wedding Caterer categories, as well as the Major Award for Caterer of the Year.   Events at SkyCity Director of Sales and Marketing, John Ryan, said: “We are tremendously proud to have been recognised at last night’s awards. Since opening our event spaces in early 2021, our incredible team continue to raise the bar with their quality and creativity of cuisine and precise event delivery. These awards are recognition of the hard work and collaboration across sales, operations, kitchens and the wider SkyCity team, ultimately ensuring successful meetings and events for our many valued clients.”   Restaurants, cafés and catering businesses gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers and the announcement of the award winners at a gala dinner held at Morphettville Racecourse on the 23 September 2024. R&CA is the industry association representing tens of thousands of restaurant and catering businesses across Australia. The Awards for Excellence awards program is recognised nationally, celebrating exceptional service and culinary talent across each state.   Caterers are assessed on all aspects of their catering business including operations, food, service, staffing and event outcomes to determine the category winners. The SkyCity Adelaide kitchen team have taken home an assortment of awards at the 2024 Royal Adelaide Show. Each year, the Royal Adelaide Show brings together the best of South Australia's culinary talents in a celebration of community spirit and friendly competition. Judging for the Chocolate and Professional Bakery Competitions has now ended, with the SkyCity pastry team awarded a total of 12 awards. In Chocolates, announced at the South Australian Dairy Awards Gala in August, our team was awarded three silver, three gold, and the coveted Champion Chocolate Bar Award. Award-winning entries included boxed chocolate assortments, creations featuring native flavours, a seasonal easter egg, and novelty showpieces. In Professional Baking, SkyCity took out third place for Decorated mud cakes, second for Gluten-free, and first in both the Gourmet meat pie and Decorated tart categories. Our team also earned the prize for highest marks in Savoury pastries and Patisserie, besting entries from a range of acclaimed bakeries. Congratulations to Russell Le Comte and the pastry team for their extraordinary efforts and achievements in this year’s competition.

Events at SkyCity recently held our biannual Showcase Event, hosting 200+ clients and guests to ‘Experience the Magic’ of our award-winning event spaces, world class food and exceptional services. Guests were treated to incredible hospitality, nonstop entertainment, and surprises throughout the evening. What an incredible day at last week's High Tea! The conversations, connection, and care that filled the room were truly memorable. Thank you to Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson, Governor of South Australia, for her moving speech; to our host, Katrina Webb-Denis PLY OAM, for guiding us; to Flinders University Institute for Mental Health and Wellbeing's Professor Bridi O'Dea, Alexandra May, Pip Granfield, and Kasia Robinson for sharing their research findings and inspirations; to the courageous Suzi Evans for her honesty and vulnerability in sharing her personal story; and to Emerauld Music for captivating us with her powerful music. Last Thursday SkyCity Adelaide was the proud Presenting Partner of Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation’s High Tea, Empowering Women’s Wellbeing in the stunning SkyCity Ballroom. We heard from an incredible range of hosts, guest speakers and panellists, including Brooke Williams, Magda Pearce, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, Avril Baynes, Katrina Webb-Denis PLY OAM, Suzi Evans, Alexandra May, Pip Granfield, Kasia Robinson and Dr Bridianne O’Dea. Discussions centred around mental health being an integral part of our wellbeing and the impacts it has on how we think, feel and act in our daily lives. For women, mental health can be influenced by a unique set of challenges that include gender roles, society pressures and life transitions. Having a strong sense of belonging and maintaining important friendships were key themes throughout the day. Thank you to the team at Breakthrough for allowing SkyCity to stage this important event, and to everyone who joined us to help raise money for Australia’s first and only foundation purely focused on raising funds to invest in life-changing mental health research. On Friday 19 July SkyCity celebrated the magic of Christmas with a stunning Christmas in July ballroom event.    The SkyCity Adelaide ballroom was unmistakably festive, with exceptional food and drink served among Christmas trees, ice sculptures, and thousands of twinkling lights. Live entertainment had the crowd spellbound throughout the evening, with expert hosting by MC Jarrod Walsh, a performance by a chamber ensemble from the internationally acclaimed Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and the Lesley Williams and Dusty Lee Band providing a soundtrack for the dancefloor.    We are honoured to donate 20% of ticket sales to our charity partner for the event, the Childhood Cancer Association Inc, in support of their work supporting families of children diagnosed with cancer. Their work is invaluable to families in need, and includes a range of 30 professional services, including counselling, financial assistance, support packages, emergency accommodation, and much more.    Thanks to Rajat Gupta and the Events at SkyCity team for bringing Christmas in July to life, as well as all of our team members and partners who helped to bring the space together so spectacularly. On Friday 24 May SkyCity Adelaide was proud to present the KickStart for Kids Period Poverty Fundraiser at Sol Rooftop. The event combined elegant afternoon entertainment, Adelaide's best rooftop views, and valuable fundraising for a great cause.   KickStart for Kids Period Poverty was launched in 2021 to fund and distribute sanitary items to South Australian schools, recognising the challenges that many women and girls face accessing sanitary products, menstrual hygiene education, wash facilities and waste management. KickStart for Kids now distributes over 1200 packets of sanitary items to more than 200 local and regional schools every month, with demand always on the rise.   Guests at the sold-out fundraiser enjoyed drinks and canapés, live DJ entertainment, and an exclusive fashion parade courtesy of couture+love+madness and Sunset Lover.
