To ensure that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that many of us take for granted.
About us
Our Story Share the Dignity was founded in 2015 after it was identified that there was a genuine need to provide vulnerable women in our community with essential sanitary products. It was reported that these women are often forced to choose between buying food to eat or buying expensive sanitary items to get through their periods. Women and children, either homeless or in shelters, were having to clean themselves in public toilets and use paper towels to create makeshift period pads. This is not and should never be okay. From a grassroots local community initiative to a national charity, Share the Dignity has struck a chord with the Australian public and continues to evolve in order to provide for the needs of at-risk women and children. Working tirelessly with over 5000 volunteers, the charity has been able to deliver over 3 million packets of pads and tampons and over 600,000 essential filled handbags to Australian women and girls. Share the Dignity continues to grow with the support of passionate volunteers and the generosity of Australian businesses, ensuring that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that many of us take for granted.

A gentle reminder that just one bag has the power to change a life. That’s the heart of #itsinthebag—your kindness goes directly to a woman or girl in need. It saddens us deeply when we receive messages from people who feel pressured to put together multiple bags just to participate. Some have said, “I used to make just one bag, but now I feel like it’s not enough because I see others doing so much more.” If you’ve ever felt this way, please know that it was never our intent. One bag is more than enough. Even our Founder, Rochelle, carefully crafts one bag each year, pouring love into every item, just like you. One story that moved Rochelle deeply was about a 16-year-old girl who received a teen bag while staying in crisis accommodation. It was her only gift on Christmas morning, a day she woke up far from home but safe. Inside that bag, she found a necklace and a bottle of perfume—the very first jewellery and perfume she’d ever owned. Imagine the power of that single gift, how it made her feel seen, valued, and a little more hopeful. The impact of one bag goes beyond words. How can you measure the joy you brought to that young girl’s heart, the hope you ignited, the sense that people out their care? The truth is, there is no way to measure that kind of impact. So please, never doubt the power of putting together just one bag. It’s cherished, appreciated, and valued more than we can express. Together, one bag at a time, we’re making a world of difference. With gratitude, Share the Dignity

This is why we exist… THIS is why we do what we do… to provide that little bit of love and light during a tough time for vulnerable women and girls 💕 This message had us in tears… take a read: "I recently left my abusive partner after months of planning. Today I received keys to a safe house for myself and 2 young children. I also received a bag. Not just any bag, but a bag that brought tears to my eyes. I packed up our whole lives in less than 3 hours and of course I didn't remember the simple things I would need for myself. This bag will make my transition into my new home easier. To most people, it's just a bag. To me it's the start of my new life. I will wear my bag with pride and cherish it for years to come. Thank you so much!" You too can have this impact on someone's life. Donate a bag filled with essential items at Bunnings from November 15 – December 1 2024. The impact a handwritten note can have on woman or girl who has fled domestic violence or is experiencing homelessness is so much more than you could ever imagine. We have heard of recipients carrying their note with them during court cases, keeping it in their wallet, having it inside their handbag and even framing it for their bedside table. How beautiful is that? If you have writer’s block or not sure what to write, you can include anything from your favourite quote, some motivational lines from a song or book or even a Christmas card. Do you include a note? Share some inspiration about what you write below 🙏🩷 Learn more about the items to include in your donation here - https://lnkd.in/d8GxA4yy

On this episode of Another Bloody Podcast, Rochelle sits down and chats with an incredible It’s in the Bag recipient, Amy. Amy’s story is one of strength and survival, after falling into a controlling and abusive relationship, she and her daughter endured fear, isolation, and manipulation. “The impact that he had on me mentally and emotionally and my daughter, you can't reverse that”. After bravely escaping the relationship, she and her daughter received an It’s in the Bag donation that renewed their hope and reminded them of the kindness they deserved. “Words can't say thank you enough for what you gave us”. Amy’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of helping others in times of need. We’d love you to listen, follow and leave a review on Spotify, Apple or wherever you get your podcasts. https://lnkd.in/g8XSkU_R
