Combination of various RIEGL tools and new optimized fast data provision via innovative link and processing systems on a #S-100 are a game changer in the mine hunting domain. Real time processing will also allow for quick preparation of landing operations and the addition of an EO/IR in the nose payload bay would even further expand this capability. New radar options increase the capabilities available for S-100. Our colleagues report live from #MSPO2024 in Poland.
#MSPO2024 🇵🇱 is the opportunity for Schiebel to unveil a brand new configuration of the #CAMCOPTER S-100 #unmanned air system, combining an EO/IR with a #radar, for #long_range #all_weather #ISR missions. The EO/IR is a nose-mounted L3 Technologies MX-8, which is already operated on the S-100 for example by the Royal Navy. The radar, under the belly, is an IMSAR NSP-5. This radar was integrated and successfully tested on the S-100 a few months ago. This #configuration is already on order with a new customer (delivery in early 2025) and we are convinced it will also interest the POLISH ARMY. For note, this configuration can be completed with further side-mounted payloads (e.g. an external fuel tank). It is also available for already delivered S-100s, as an upgrade. Incredible how much the use of, also larger, RPAS has increased in the civil domain. Schiebel and European Maritime Safety Agency supporting the German Federal Police and others with crucial services in the North Sea.
This summer, we’re supporting the German Federal Police and the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency of Germany with our RPAS service in the North Sea. The RPAS will fly from the German Federal Police vessel POTSDAM. It will carry out emissions monitoring and general maritime surveillance in one of the busiest maritime regions in the world – which is also part of a sulphur emissions control area. The RPAS can measure the sulphur content in ships’ emissions to calculate the possible percentage of sulphur in the fuel used. Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Agency (#SASEMAR) has published an infographic about #Heroinas_de_Salvora 🇪🇸, its newest rescue tugboat, built by Zamakona Yards. It is the first civilian vessel designed ab initio to operate with an #unmanned air system. This #UAS is a Schiebel #CAMCOPTER S-100, call sign ISAR 801, fitted with a Trakka Systems TC-300 EO/IR, an Overwatch Imaging PT-8DN Oceanwatch, a set of SENSIA cameras for gas detection, a NUAer / Aeromon BH-12 SOx/NOx sniffer, a cargo hook, a #maritime radar and an #AIS. Bittersweet feelings...after almost 8 years, the OEMs (and therefore our contract) did end June. It was an honour to work with incredible talented and motivated people and support Navy in progressing their UAS capability. We are keen to learn what the future plans are and are motivated to demonstrate our new capability upgrades and the larger S-300 platform soon.
Looking back to eight successful and exciting years of the CAMCOPTER S-100 fleet being in service for the Royal Australian Navy! Immensely proud that we trained and qualified over 100 RAN staff and supported in multiple deployments. After the initial 3 year contract period, and one S-100 system, the contract was extended several times, with six S-100's in total participating in important exercises and missions. We are committed to further supporting the RAN for any upcoming VTOL UAS requirements.
