Drinking water contamination is becoming a significant issue, not only locally but across Australia. The increasing pressure on water supplies due to urban growth presents significant challenges for Australian cities, particularly in the context of climate change and variable rainfall patterns. As urban centres expand, the demand for water rises, impacting both residential needs and the requirements for food production and industrial activities. Key Issues: 1. Reliance on Surface Water: Most Australian cities depend heavily on surface water sources like rivers, lakes, and rainwater. This reliance makes them particularly vulnerable to fluctuations in rainfall, which can be exacerbated by climate change. Furthermore, uncontrolled run-off across agricultural pastures, historically managed using chemicals has significantly increased the risks to drinking water quality. 2. Diminished Rainfall: Certain regions, especially south-west Western Australia, have experienced a long-term decline in rainfall since the 1970s. This trend has led to decreased water availability, putting additional strain on water supplies. 3. Water Storage Challenges: Water storage dams are crucial for managing supply but many optimal dam sites are already in use. The need for new storage solutions is urgent but limited by geographical and environmental factors. 4. Climate Change Effects: The increasing variability of rainfall patterns due to climate change complicates water resource management. This unpredictability requires more robust planning and infrastructure to ensure consistent supply. The impact of these factors has created significant uncertainly for homeowners, business owners and facilities managers. If you feel your drinking water could be compromised call Scaada today. Our team having seen a recent surge in occurrences have created a pack that can be sent directly to your site with clear collection instructions, and returning for analysis. This simple process provides you total piece of mind and certainty, at a low cost, and with minimal fuss. https://lnkd.in/gURgcrJr https://lnkd.in/gZFnw4vP #Environmental #Sustainability #OccupationalHygiene #Rainfall #DrinkingWater

Based on the recent investigations by WorkSafe in to the management and exposure to welding fumes, Scaada have been involved in a regional monitoring program across numerous businesses investigating welding fume exposure. The investigation highlights the risks and the need for adjustments to keep our clients compliant and their staff safe in the workplace. Welding fumes have been proven to be a carcinogenic and those exposed are at a 43% increased risk of lung cancer compared to those that have never welded. The recent standards amendment mean the exposure is significantly reduced and old extraction systems are no longer viable or relevant. In 2017 the World Health Organisation have grouped welding fumes with such hazardous materials as silica and asbestos. To stay compliant and provide a safe workplace take proactive action today and contact Scaada for an assessment that could save you from a significant fine, and your staff from long term impact illnesses. https://lnkd.in/gNM_NEE8 https://lnkd.in/gR4drctM #weldingfumes #fumes #exposure #environmental #occupationalhygiene #sustainability
