Introducing the world's newest breed – the Rescuoodle (res-kyoo-dle) ❤️ At RSPCA NSW, we believe that rescue animals are in a breed of their own. So, we’ve decided to make it official. Introducing Rescuoodles, a campaign to inspire the world to open their hearts and homes to animals awaiting adoption 🙌 Cavoodles, schnoodles, and bernedoodles were all once unknown words. Now, these breeds are all the rage amongst pet owners. But as more people buy designer pets, they leave behind oodles of rescue animals patiently waiting for a home. With a 30% decline in adoptions seen across NSW the launch of Rescuoodles hopes to raise the profile of rescue animals, reduce the demand for unethical breeding and celebrate those who have already been adopted. A Rescuoodle can be fluffy, scruffy, spotty or striped, smooth as silk, mellow or hyped. In August we welcomed teams from Workiva, Apple, Insignia Financial and J.P. Morgan at our Sydney Adoption Centre for their Corporate Experience Days! They enjoyed behind the scenes tours of our shelter (including our veterinary hospital), cuddled puppies and kittens and created enrichment for our cats and dogs in care. No dog deserves the life that Danny once lived 💔 Arriving in care through no fault of his own, his skin was dry and what little fur he had was patchy, matted and thin. He moved slowly, unsure and overwhelmed by the onslaught of new sights, sounds and smells around him. But despite this frail shell, his soft eyes reflected his true personality. One of hope, strength and gratitude. Thankful to have been given a second chance 🙌 Under the watchful eyes of veterinary staff and the tender care of his foster family, Danny began to heal. His fur grew back, and his tail began to wag. Slowly at first but destined to never stop. So today, as he nears his 300th day in care, we acknowledge the dog he once was and celebrate his new lease on life. An incredible transformation by an incredible little dog. Danny's adoption fee has been waived in the hopes of helping him find a loving family to call his own. We recently had the honour of attending the launch of the NSW Environmental Trust's 2024-2029 Strategic Plan at Parliament House, inaugurated by The Hon. Penny Sharpe Minister for Climate Change, Energy, Heritage, and the Environment. Our very own Gemma Ma delivered an outstanding presentation showcasing the significant achievements of our four-year "Keeping Cats Safe at Home" project. Gemma is a powerful advocate for the importance of our work and her passion for animal welfare shines through. We are proud to have her as a champion for this vital project. Earlier this year, Oscar came through the doors of our veterinary clinic covered in severe chemical burns 💔 At only 9 months old and as tiny as he was, everyone feared the worst. But with immediate action from our veterinary staff and the dedication of one exceptional foster carer, Oscar pulled through 🙌 Days were tough and recovery was slow, but despite the severe scars now covering his body, Oscar stayed strong and never lost hope. Today, he found his forever home ❤️ Off to live the life he deserves, with a brand new big brother to show him the ropes and teach him how to be a puppy all over again. All the best little one, we hope you enjoy every minute of your new life. From now, until forever 👋
