Here at Resources, our people matter. In everything we do and decide, we respect, protect and promote human rights in our workplace and work for enduring cultural change in the Queensland public sector. It’s not surprising we are leading the way in ensuring people with a disability are supported to be their best. We will continue to facilitate open and ongoing conversations in a bid to make an impact on more disability inclusive workplace practices. • As stage one of the #QueensWharf development is unveiled this week, we proudly acknowledge the work our Land and Surveying Services and Land Operations Support teams have done to support this major milestone for #Brisbane.    Spanning over 12 hectares in the heart of our CBD, the project has involved coordinated, complex land agreements with more than 25 survey plans and over 37 land transactions.   We’ve facilitated new leases; issued deeds of grant; handled numerous owner consents, road openings and closures; managed complex surveying plans; and facilitated the creation of easements.    We know that to go far we have to go together, and our collaborative, multi-agency approach with State agencies, Brisbane City Council, utility providers, the State Legal team, South Bank Corporation, surveying firms, the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel and Titles Queensland has proved our point!   This is huge for our city and we are thrilled to have had such a pivotal role in making it happen.

  • To manage the impacts of coal seam gas activities on agricultural land, we are developing a framework to address #subsidence. CSG-induced subsidence refers to the sinking or settling of the ground as a result of groundwater extraction for coal seam gas production. This may have an impact on agricultural land and agribusiness activities. The regulatory framework aims to manage the impacts or predicted impacts of CSG-induced subsidence on agricultural land and promote coexistence between the resources and agricultural sectors. While we’ve already engaged with various stakeholders, including a number of agricultural landholders in the Surat Basin, we recognise the need to broaden this consultation to better understand the diverse impacts of CSG-induced subsidence. Given the significance of this framework in balancing agricultural and resource needs, we invite you to provide feedback. Have your say here https://lnkd.in/gxEE36fZ

This week we caught up with Queensland's Valuer-General, Laura Dietrich who has today announced the local governments to be included in the 2025 Revaluation Program. “The decision to revalue a LGA is based on several factors, including a comprehensive property market analysis, timing since the last #valuation, and feedback from consultations with individual local governments and industry stakeholders. Valuers across the State are assessing property markets across 14 local government authorities. Land valuations provide essential, independent data that supports informed decision-making and allows landowners to monitor the changing value of their land.“     Our team of expert #valuers is gathering on-the-ground information, as well as undertaking desktop assessments, including research on property sales since the last valuation of these LGAs.  The culmination of their investigations will see new land valuations issued for over 40% of valuations on the valuation roll in Queensland. New valuations for the below LGA’s will take effect from 30 June 2025. Visit https://lnkd.in/gQ4ZmMr8

Today we shine our 🔦 on Nikolas Marchetti, a legal cadet support officer and participant in our First Nations Cadetship Program. Supporting teams within in-house legal, Nik’s role is varied and busy! He creates briefs used for court hearings, collates data, reviews interview footage and ad hoc administrative tasks. He’s always had an interest in the legal profession, drawn to the high variety of issues and topics that can be presented. No day is ever the same, even this early in a law career! Nik enjoys complexity and problem solving – pushing him to continue his learning journey and grow, both as an employee and as a person. He says: “There are a variety of benefits that the in-house legal group provide to the greater community. Having laws, and ensuring that staff abide by them, means a fair and equitable environment for everyone. The role of in-house legal has changed from being solely legal leaders, to business enables and a key part of the leadership team. It’s important that we have a deep understanding of our work, and our issues for us to provide viable, tangible solutions. I choose Resources because of the diversity of work and our focus on sustainability. I want to make the world a better place through the application of law. Since the start of my cadetship here, I’ve really enjoyed meeting new people and embracing new challenges.”
