Julie’s journey into aged care began after a long career in radiology. Inspired by a conversation with her mother’s doctor, who recognised her natural affinity for aged care, Julie made the bold decision to switch careers. Since then, she hasn’t looked back, finding immense satisfaction in the relationships she’s built with residents, their families and her colleagues. As the Office Manager at Regis Hornsby, Julie makes a real impact through the laughter and joy she shares with residents, forming lasting friendships that bring comfort and reassurance to both the residents and their families. Her respect for them is always reciprocated, creating a warm and welcoming environment. Julie believes that working with older people requires patience, empathy and a good listening ear—qualities she’s honed over her seven years in aged care. The stories shared by residents fill her life with peace and inspire her for the future. Find meaning in your career with Regis: https://lnkd.in/g-r8y5Yv

Minh is a dedicated Relationship Specialist at Regis, whose journey into aged care is both personal and profound. Born and raised in Vietnam, Minh moved to Australia at the age of 25. Growing up, she was surrounded by the wisdom and care of her grandparents and the close bond with the older generation instilled in her a lifelong respect and affection for the elderly. Minh's transition into aged care began when she was actively involved in finding a suitable care home for her late grandma-in-law. The process opened her eyes to the challenges families face during such transitions. It was then that she realised her potential to make a significant impact in this field. "I knew I had the experience and skillset to be able to make a difference," Minh reflects. "I am very honoured and grateful to be a part of the aged care sector." At Regis we support our team to undertake ongoing education and development, so we can continue to provide exceptional care for our residents. Our team recently participated in Dine with Ted Virtual Reality (VR) training led by Dementia Australia. The workshop utilised VR and avatar technology and enabled participants to get a sense of the dining experience through the perspective of someone living with dementia.

For people living with dementia in community, home or residential care, a positive dining experience is so important, which is why we are proud to launch Dine with Ted (VR) 🍴🎉    Dine with Ted (VR) is an innovative workshop, using virtual reality technology to help support care workers to improve the dining experience of people living with dementia in their care.       Launched today in a Dementia Australia Centre for Dementia Learning webinar, the workshop allows you to see a dining experience through the eyes of someone living with dementia in residential aged care and from the perspective of a care worker.     Participants explore how food, the physical environment and support can greatly influence a person’s dining experience.     Dine with Ted (VR) is a three-hour, face-to-face workshop. Jennifer, a dedicated Registered Nurse at Regis Magnolia, has been making a profound impact on the lives of residents in Queensland. She believes that the challenges of loneliness, anxiety and isolation in an unfamiliar environment can significantly affect older Australians. Through her keen observational skills, effective communication and active listening, Jennifer responds to each resident as an individual, ensuring their unique needs are met with care and compassion. Jennifer's journey into aged care began when she moved from Scotland to Australia. Initially, she didn't envision a career in this field, but family commitments led her to explore this path. She quickly realised that she had a lot to offer elderly residents and found that aged care nursing is not only a valuable societal role but also a deeply rewarding career. Jennifer feels privileged to help some of the most vulnerable members of society feel comfortable, supported, nourished and cared for.
