When it comes to regenerating our city (and planet!), we need to look at what makes us human: our ability to learn and transform, and our connection to nature and each other. 🌱 And then we need to centre those things. In her first Field Note, Yasmina Dkhissi, our new Adaptive Futures Lead, explores what it will take for us to work together, find common ground, and ask the right questions as we make our way through the climate and biodiversity crises. Though we might've all become a little *too* comfortable with remote working over the last few years, coming together as a team as often as we can remains absolutely critical to our work. Yesterday, we got together to play with our new #livingstrategy. We've been taking it apart, putting it back together again, and combining the elements in new and unexpected ways. And it's been fun. Very fun. We also went for beach walks, shared stories, broke bread, slurped soup and enjoyed the exceptional company of Buddy the dog. Huge thanks to Nina Sharpe (and Buddy) for hosting us 💚 If you haven't done so already, you can dive into the Living Strategy here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gwQqHSSv

Meet Yasmina. Yasmina is a humble human who cares for the wellbeing of the planet and its people. She turned this deep sense of care and admiration for the natural world into action and has held a number of research and strategy roles over the past 12 years, across the public and private sectors, locally and internationally, exploring and building pathways to more resilient futures. Yasmina has brought a human-centred lens to the range of collaborative and trans-disciplinary climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience research and innovation programs she has co-designed and implemented; balancing blue-sky strategic thinking with real-world impact. Deeply inspired by Nature’s beauty and genius, Yasmina looks to Nature for common ground, for connection to ourselves, one another and to the world we are all a part of. Ultimately, Yasmina believes most humans care for their health and wellbeing and that of their loved ones; and that creating the patterns that connect us to who we are, our nature, our human nature, will bring us home. A home we care for and cares for us. As it happens, Yasmina Dkhissi is also Regen Melbourne's new Adaptive Futures Lead. She joined the team this week, and we couldn't be more excited. Welcome, Yasmina. We're so happy you're here. 🌱💚✨
