🩸 Today is World Thrombosis Day. Here’s what you should know about thrombosis and how to keep yourself healthy: What’s thrombosis? It’s when a blood clot forms in your veins or arteries, blocking blood flow. Know the risks: Prolonged sitting, recent surgery, certain health conditions, pregnancy, smoking, and some medications like birth control pills can increase your risk. Stay active: Keep moving, especially during long periods of inactivity like flights or at work. Stretch your legs and take breaks to walk around. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your blood flowing smoothly. Live healthy: A balanced diet, regular exercise, and avoiding smoking can help reduce your risk of blood clots. Watch for symptoms: Look out for unexplained pain, swelling, or redness in your legs, sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, or dizziness. If you experience any of these, seek medical help right away. #worldthrombosisday #thrombosisawareness #ramsayhealthcare

Our dedicated Urogynaecologists from Greenslopes Private Hospital, Prof. Judith Goh AO and Prof. Hannah Krause AO, have just returned from their latest trip to Uganda, where they have been volunteering for nearly 30 years to assist women facing gynaecological issues in under-resourced areas. During this recent mission, they provided care to over 200 patients at Kagando Hospital in remote western Uganda, performing more than 140 procedures on women who would have likely gone untreated. Their commitment to improving lives in these communities is truly inspiring. #greenslopesprivatehospital #urogynaecology #healthcareheroes #ramsayhealthcare

Exciting news from Gallipoli Medical Research and Greenslopes Private Hospital! Our Clinical Trials Unit, led by Dr. Suzanne Elliott, Professor Victoria Atkinson, and Michelle Gayle Beutel, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by administering an innovative cellular therapy for melanoma - marking the first time this has been done in Queensland. This cutting-edge treatment utilises Tumour Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TIL) extracted from the patient's own tumour, allowing their immune system to more effectively combat cancer. The process involves complex logistics, from tumour removal to shipping and culturing in the USA, before reintroducing the expanded TILs back into the patient. Brisbane’s north is now home to new state-of-the-art robotic technology, with North West Private Hospital unveiling a surgical robot for use during knee replacement surgery. Michelle Hogan, a 56-year old hairdresser was the first to benefit from the device, undergoing a knee replacement after suffering from pain for more than three years. Ms Hogan had been forced to reduce her work hours and stop exercising due to constant pain, which had not responded to conservative measures such as anti-inflammatories, physiotherapy and injections. Dr Mark Dekkers performed Ms Hogan’s knee replacement utilising the new Velys device. “The addition of robotics is a game changer in total knee replacement surgery,” Dr Dekkers said. “The Velys robot is designed to allow surgeons to precisely preform a total knee replacement and accurately balance soft tissue which can enhance a more pain free and quicker recovery and can also reduce operating time.” Equipped with advanced cameras and optical trackers, the new robot assists surgeons by gathering patient anatomy data in real time. The robot is designed to aid the surgeon as they plan for and execute precise procedures tailored to a patient’s specific anatomy. North West Private Hospital CEO, Kelly Grant, said “We’re excited to introduce this new surgical robot to North West Private Hospital. We’re committed to offering patients leading surgical technology that’s designed to improve patient experience and outcomes.”
