Queensland Mental Health Week shines a spotlight on individual and community mental health and wellbeing 🫶 Last month Treasury held its first Candid Conversations event to encourage more open conversation with our leaders. These events are designed to be small, in-person and completely candid, creating a space to share honest perspectives and insights. Our first event featured the perspectives of female leaders (L to R) Emmy Kubainski, Executive Director of Strategic Communications, Rachel Crossland, Deputy Under Treasurer, Industry, Investment and Commercial, Helen Dogan, Deputy Under Treasurer, Social, Intergovernmental and Corporate and Karen Hooper, Head of Productivity, Office of the Productivity and Red Tape Reduction. Indigenous Business Month is an opportunity to celebrate and shine a light on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses across Queensland. We engaged with Indigenous business Gilimbaa to create 'Rich history, thriving future’ ─ a bespoke artwork that tells the story of Queensland Treasury acknowledging First Nations peoples cultures and contributions. Gilimbaa means 'today' in the language of the Wakka Wakka people of the Burnett region of Queensland, where artist and Executive Director David Williams (pictured) originates. As an Indigenous creative agency, Gilimbaa is driven by the power and process of storytelling and its role in educating and celebrating First Nations culture. Treasury was honoured to collaborate with David and Gilimbaa to create this special artwork for our department, which is featured across major publications, print material and digital platforms.
