Queensland Airports Limited’s Chair Ann Sherry AO and CEO Amelia Evans were delighted to host a boardroom lunch earlier this week, bringing together sports and city leaders to discuss the region’s commitment to improved accessibility and inclusion in the lead up to and the legacy of the 2032 Olympic & Paralympic Games.   The room was united in its support for a “person-first” approach to the city’s infrastructure, experiences and appeal. As the Lifestyle Capital of Australia, the Gold Coast also has the potential to be one of the most accessible cities in the world and we’re all up for the challenge, recognising not only the social but also the economic benefits of inclusion.   Thank you to our guests for sharing their stories and perspectives.

More than $21,000 raised, and still time to donate! Last night 10 Queensland Airports Limited team members spent the night sleeping out at Cbus Super Stadium for the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. This is our 10th year participating in this eye-opening experience, raising awareness and funds to help support those facing homelessness in our local community. The evening brought home the realities of it's like for those sleeping rough every night - as the group heard stories from people who have been homeless. What's great about this initiative is every dollar raised goes directly back into the Gold Coast community. There's still time to help us make a difference, donate here: https://lnkd.in/gKKvhBZ2

As Pride Month takes flight, we’re proud to share some of the initiatives our newly formed QAL Pride Committee have been working on to foster inclusivity and celebrate diversity across our organisation. 🌈 Welcome Here Project: We’ve joined ACON's initiative to display ‘Welcome Here’ rainbow stickers at each of our Admin Offices on the Gold Coast, and in Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach. This project symbolises our commitment to creating safe and welcoming spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community. 🌈 Pride in Diversity Membership: We are thrilled to be the first airport operator in Australia to join Pride in Diversity, a national not-for-profit employer support program. Pride in Diversity are specialists in organisational change dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people by reducing exclusion, homophobia and stigma in the workplace. 🌈 Progress Pride Flag Enamel Pins: To visually express pride and allyship, we’ve made pride pins available to all team members and on-airport stakeholders, free of charge. The pins are produced by Minus18 Foundation, an Australian organisation focussed on improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth. #PrideMonth #QALPride #Inclusion #LGBTQIA

Our Chief Strategy, Sustainability and People Officer Shannon McFadden took to the stage at this year's Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF) Green Revolution Summit alongside TTF CEO Margy Osmond to discuss QAL's ongoing sustainability journey. QAL is passionate about inspiring a sustainable future, which is why we’ve committed to reaching Net Zero scope 1 & 2 carbon emissions by 2030. This is a big step toward a greener future, and we're excited to bring our community and our stakeholders on this journey with us. QAL was a proud sponsor of the Green Revolution Summit, which featured lively discussions and thought-provoking speakers on topics such as the future of Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Australia and sustainable mobility more broadly. #Sustainability #NetZero2030

At Townsville Airport, we're committed to creating an inclusive and accessible airport environment. As part of this, we are proud to offer passengers an authorised ‘Changing Places Facility’. Changing Places facilities go beyond traditional accessible toilets, offering larger and more suitable spaces that prioritise dignity, safety, and privacy. Our facility, which has been operational for over a year now, offers travellers who may have a disability or require special support a more comfortable and dignified airport experience. As an airport group, our commitment to accessibility extends beyond just one airport. We are working to enhance the customer experience across all of our airports to ensure regional Queensland and Australia more broadly is accessible for all. #Inclusion #Accessibility #ChangingPlaces
