  • It's the personal stories that remind us how important small gestures are and how an action such as creating a bag of toiletries and donating it via Bunnings will make a huge difference to someone. We're creating some bags, will you create and drop one off to support a woman in need of period products and a little "pick me up" with some nice toiletries? #makeadifference #smallgestures #showthemsupport

"I just love this charity. Years ago it helped me and women I knew living in a women's shelter. We all received bags filled with toiletries and special items. I was overjoyed (as were the other women). You cannot imagine the difference your donations will make to someone." How beautiful is this message we received from an It's in the Bag recipient 😭 cue the waterworks! We give #ItsintheBag donations without expecting anything in return but everytime we hear from someone touched by the campaign it just fills us with so so much gratitude. How lucky are we to touch someone's life like that? You too can have a special impact on someone's life. Fill a bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and period products and drop it off to any Bunnings nationwide from 15 Nov - 1 Dec. Storytelling is a core capability for leaders of change. Stories are the building blocks of empathy & compassion and a way of getting to the heart of who we are. They foster feelings of community & connection. They can help people feel more in control & less alone in the challenges they face. Leaders who tell compelling stories can move their audience from apathy to empathy & ultimately to action. The original article: https://lnkd.in/ef5fxH3f. Medical doctor, leading authority on improving brain function, international speaker and award-winning author of NeuroSlimming

Modern medicine needs to acknowledge that more than 80% of our health is determined by how we live our lives — the food we eat, the work we do, the stress we’re under, the quality of our sleep, the amount we move, the company we keep, and the pollution we’re exposed to — and only 20% of our health is attributed to drugs, surgery and other external interventions. To draw attention to this point, I delivered three poster presentations at the Alzheimer Europe conference in Geneva, Switzerland from 8th to 10th October. The titles of my presentations are: 1. The power of gratitude and breath work in reducing cognitive decline 2. Every soft drink is a bullet to our brain! Or in medical speak: Could fructose metabolism be a driver of Alzheimer’s disease? 3. Can adventure prevent dementia? Or in medical speak: Untangling the mechanisms of cognitive reserve. The first presentation was exclusively for the Geneva conference. The other two posters I also presented at the Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) Conference in Krakow Poland in April. Click here - https://lnkd.in/g9xVPuWW - to view my posters if you were not able to attend the conference. 📷 I took this photo from St Peter’s Cathedral in Geneva, Switzerland, where I presented at the Alzheimer Europe conference.
