Celebrating 3️⃣0️⃣ years of the Qantas Flying Art Series! Today marks the day 30 years ago that we revealed 'Wunala Dreaming' to the world on our Boeing 747-400 VH-OJB alongside BALARINJI. John Moriarty AM and Ros Moriarty founded the trailblazing Indigenous design and strategy studio Balarinji in 1983, and Qantas has proudly worked with the Aboriginal-owned company for over three decades. 1️⃣ 1994. Wunala Dreaming was inspired by the natural colours of Australia, from the bright reds of Central Australia, to the purple-blues of desert mountain ranges, and the lush greens of Kakadu. 2️⃣ 1995. 'Nalanji Dreaming', Boeing 747-300 VH-EBU. 'Nalanji' is a Yanyuwa word meaning 'our place', and is a celebration of the balance and harmony of nature in Australia, and reflects the lush colour palette of tropical Australia. The themes of the coast and reef were designed to complement the Red Centre and Northern Territory and motifs of Wunala Dreaming. 3️⃣ 2002. 'Yananyi Dreaming' Boeing 737-800 VH-VXB. Yananyi Dreaming drew on the work of Pitjantjatjara artist Rene Kulitja who painted her dramatic country surrounding Uluru. The design shows pathways leading to the symbol of Uluru, illustrated as both a physical form, and as an abstract representation of concentric circles. 4️⃣ 2013. 'Mendoowoorrji' Boeing 737-800 VH-XZJ. Inspired by the work of the late West Australian Gija painter, Paddy Bedford, Mendoowoorrji is an interpretation of the 2005 painting ‘Medicine Pocket’ which captures the essence of Bedford’s mother’s country in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. 5️⃣ 2018. 'Yam Dreaming' Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner VH-ZND. This livery was inspired by 1991 artwork ‘Yam Dreaming’, painted by the late artist, Emily Kame Kngwarreye. The painting captures the essence of the yam plant, an important symbol in Emily’s Dreamtime story, and an important food source in her home region of Utopia, 230 kilometres north east of Alice Springs. 6️⃣ 2023. 'Minyma Kutjara Tjukurpa' Airbus A220-300 VH-X4A. Painted by senior Pitjantjatjara artist Maringka Baker, ‘Minyma Kutjara Tjukurpa’ (two women dreaming) tells the Dreaming story of two sisters travelling back to their home.

"Having my son Andrew, a fellow Qantas pilot, join me in the flight deck on my final sector before retirement is a memory I'll cherish forever. I’d already worked in general aviation for a few years before I began my airline career almost 43 years ago, flying across Western Queensland the Fokker Friendship. I joined Qantas in 1995 as a Second Officer flying the B747-400 and progressed to First Officer roles on the 767 and later the A330. In 2008, I transitioned to the A380, its cutting-edge technology made it a particularly exciting role. One unforgettable experience in my career was A380 line training in France. Flying the A380 for the very first time was a remarkable moment that I will always cherish. I served as a First Officer on the A380 for 14 years, and in 2022, I achieved my first command position as Captain on the 787. This Father’s Day, I’m celebrating the amazing support of my family. Gearing up for the arrival of our Airbus A321XLRs! ✈️ Our pilots have started training on a new simulator, with our first A321XLR scheduled to touch down in Australia in April 2025. More than 240 pilots are expected to be trained on the new A321XLR over the next three years, with the CAE 7000XR Series A320 simulator featuring the latest technology, as well as being one of the few in the world fitted with a dual head-up display. The A321XLR is the longest-range aircraft of the A320 family, and will offer a more comfortable flying experience for our customers. Some key features include: ▪️ A more comfortable and wider seat vs the Boeing 737 ▪️ Largest overhead storage of any single-aisle aircraft, allowing 60% more bags than the 737 ▪️ Higher ceilings and large windows, and a wider cabin than the 737 ▪️ Fast & free Wi-Fi on all aircraft ▪️ 197 total seats, with 20 business seats in a 2-2 configuration and 177 economy seats in a 3-3

We’ve always been proud to support Australian Red Cross in their valuable work across the country, they are there when people need it most. Today we’re announcing a new partnership that will see 750 new Australian Red Cross Volunteers trained to help in times of crises, such as bushfires, floods and cyclones. Wheelchair basketball is one of the many para-sports that are soon to begin at the Paralympics in Paris! 🏀   Aussie international CJ McCarthy-Grogan gave us a quick masterclass session in his hometown of Darwin to get to know the essentials. 

We are bidding farewell to our last Boeing 737-400 freighter after it took its final flight as part of the Qantas Freight fleet overnight. VH-XNH was manufactured in 1990 and has flown more than 61,500 hours across its lifespan, transporting countless tonnes of cargo and playing a vital role in connecting communities across Australia since joining our Freight fleet in 2017. The retirement of these 737 Classics makes way for a new era of larger and more fuel-efficient Airbus A321P2Fs.
