  • Our purpose is to make a difference to the lives of Territorians, and that goes beyond providing essential services. Through our community grants and partnerships, we also support a range of initiatives and, this year, that included the famous Darwin Festival! Our partnership supported the incredible Song Spirals by multi-disciplinary Yolngu artist Rosealee Pearson. Inspired by a book of the same name, written by Rosealee's mother and the Gay'wu group of women, Song Spirals was a beautiful fusion of music, dance and projection. We sat down with Rosealee to learn more about the show, and the importance of partnership support for local artists who have powerful stories to tell. #DarwinFestival #SongSpirals #NorthernTerritory #Culture

  • Our diverse team comes from a wide range of backgrounds, and the latest member of our team to share her journey is Senior Data & Reporting Officer Surekha Tatipakala - she is starring in the Australian Water Association's 'Careers in Water' initiative! Born on the riverbank of India’s Godavari River, Surekha's journey from completing a Master of Computer Science in her country of birth to optimising water management across 1.3 million sq km of the Northern Territory is a testament to the power of curiosity and growth. Surekha credits her career success to the support and opportunities she's found with us. We're passionate about helping our team members thrive; whether they’re just starting out in their careers or looking to mentor the next generation. Surekha's advice about a career in water? "You don't need prior knowledge; your skills will be transferable. Just be curious." • We have an incredible team of experts, with many choosing to spend their entire career with us. This leads to them collecting a massive amount of corporate knowledge, but can leave gaps in the team when they retire. That's why we invest in a new round of apprentices each year, and make sure they get to learn from the very best in our business. We have apprenticeship opportunities open across multiple locations - Darwin, Katherine, Alice Springs and Yulara - in both our power and water teams, and we're on the hunt for the right people to fill them. Here, Phil Hayward from our Alice Springs team shares a little about the opportunities that came his way when he joined us. He got the chance to undertake a dual trade qualification. What opportunities might you find? Applications close on Sunday, 1 September 2024. 🖥️ Visit https://loom.ly/JA3cQek ☎️ Call GTNT Group on (08) 8980 0600

  • Mental health and wellbeing is as important as anything else in our workplace, and we're always looking for ways to grow in this area. Initiatives have included a recent workshop for our apprentices with Newmemory. The team teaches anti-fragility, a concept that goes beyond resilience. While resilience is about bouncing back from challenges, anti-fragility is about becoming stronger with every adversity faced. Among other things, our team learnt how to overcome stress using both mindset and physical techniques, and how to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Thanks to everyone for their active participation. Workshops like this are much more effective when everyone engages! In the words of NewMemory: "A setback is a setup for a comeback." #MentalHealth #OvercomeStress #HealthyLife #Resilience

  • Power and water are essential for us all, but even more so for those who rely on critical medical equipment to stay healthy. That's why we provide a free Life Support Service. Anyone who registers for the service, such as those who use a dialysis machine or ventilator, or perhaps need a fridge to keep life-saving medicines cool, receives advance warning of planned power or water outages. This gives them time to prepare, and make alternative arrangements for the duration of the outage, if necessary. We're spreading the word as far and wide as possible to ensure all those who need this service know about it. To find out more, call 1800 245 092, or visit https://loom.ly/2UKb7V0. #LifeSupport #CommunitySafety #EssentialServices #BePrepared

  • Congratulations to Environment Officer Hmalan Hunter-Xénié for accepting an offer to pursue a Master of Public Policy at University of Oxford in the UK. This is an enormous achievement. Of Tiwi/Iwaidja, Kaytej/Warlpiri and Drehu descent, Hmalan was born on Larrakia Country in Darwin. She achieved First Class Honours in her Bachelor of Science degree from The Australian National University and brings a wealth of expertise to our team. In her role with us, Hmalan provides invaluable guidance and support on environmental matters crucial to our mission to deliver essential services to Territorians. She has contributed in a variety of other ways, such as co-chairing our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) working group, and being a member of the Australian Water Association/Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) RAP advisory group. Hmalan was previously heavily involved in cultural and natural resource management projects at CSIRO. Thanks to Hmalan for helping us work towards a sustainable future, and good luck with your studies! #EnvironmentalLeadership #IndigenousExcellence #ProfessionalEngagement #NorthernTerritory

Taking part in events such as the Northern Territory Science Fair is a great way for us to connect with the community - and meet some of the Territory's talented young people who might one day become members of our team. At the fair we ran through some fascinating power and water science projects with students, to help explain a bit about what we do, and encourage them to choose a STEM career. Next week we'll be taking part in the Darwin Careers Expo on Tuesday, 20 August 2024, at the Territory Netball Stadium in Marrara. There we'll have information about apprenticeships, plus roles in engineering, water operations, economics, ICT, environmental science, customer service, accounts, health and safety, marketing and communications, HR and more. Drop by and say hi! #Careers #STEM #NorthernTerritory #Jobs

  • As an organisation that provides essential services across more than 1.3 million square kilometres, we have roles all over this great Territory of ours. As part of our work to spread the word about opportunities that exist beyond the main population hubs of Darwin and Alice Springs, we recently took part in the Gunbalanya Community School Careers Expo in Arnhem Land. Chatting with students gave us the chance to explain more about roles in remote regions, while Tylah Saunders from Clontarf Foundation explained how important days like this are. It was fantastic to be part of this event, and field a range of questions from students! Thanks to the school for having us. #CareersExpo #GunbalanyaSchool #ClontarfFoundation
