  • In California, a positive step has been taken to reduce this commonly littered item! Starting January 1, 2025, the state has banned most expanded plastic “foam” (also known as styrofoam or polystyrene) food containers, eliminating up to 3.9 billion items of foam annually. 🌍 Los Angeles has implemented a ban on the sale or distribution of Styrofoam, contributing to the city's “zero-waste” goal. Alternatives like paper, fibre-based materials, and tinfoil will replace foam products. By bringing their own reusable containers, people can go one step further and avoid single-use altogether! California's 2022 law, SB 54, aims to reduce single-use plastics by 25% within a decade and ensure all plastic foodware is recyclable or compostable, a good next step to reducing plastic waste.   #PlasticFreeJuly #ChooseToRefuse #PFJ #PlasticFreeJuly2025 #reduceplasticwaste #PlasticFreePledge #plasticavoidance #PlasticFreeFoundation #SmallStepsBigDifference

  • For the third year in a row, staff from professional services company EY in Poland joined the Plastic Free July challenge, and their commitment to reducing plastic waste is inspiring! 🌍💚 The team kicked off with some eye-opening workshops: • The “Zero Waste Academy” helped them uncover the truth behind plastic myths and provided practical tips for reducing plastic use. • A “Personal Plastic Audit” helped each team member identify and reduce plastic waste in their everyday lives. Afterwards, the team put their knowledge into practice, they organised cleanups in Wrocław and Warsaw to remove plastic from local streets. They also organised a field trip to a waste management plant that provided valuable insights into recycling and waste education! Way to go! 🙌🏼 Together, they are making a real difference—one piece of plastic at a time! 🌎✨ Thank you for being part of the solution. #PlasticFreeJuly #ChooseToRefuse #PFJ #PlasticFreeJuly2024 #reduceplasticwaste #plasticavoidance #PlasticFreeFoundation #SmallStepsBigDifference

  • This year, Art4You Gallery in the UAE took the challenge to new heights by hosting a series of creative and engaging events that focused on sustainable solutions Throughout July, the gallery organised sustainability-themed art activations, including live painting, exhibitions, and a plastic-free morning tea and networking event. Each event aimed to spark cultural shifts towards reducing plastic use and to encourage a fresh look at production, consumption, and artistic methods. Their work not only brought the community together but also raised important awareness about ocean plastic pollution and the need for more sustainable choices. Thank you, Art4You Gallery, for turning creativity into action and making a positive impact! 💚🌱 Jesno Jackson #PlasticFreeJuly #ChooseToRefuse #PFJ #PlasticFreeJuly2024

  • 🌱 Sharing some popular ideas to make the workplace kitchen a little greener.   Some people start by taking stock of any single-use plastics lurking in cupboards and drawers—it’s amazing what a quick inventory can reveal. From there its easy to start small by picking just one item to swap out first.   Instead of single-use replacements like cardboard or “compostable” items, setting up a system of reusable options such as a “mug library” makes it easy for everyone to choose reusables. Other businesses relace plastic backaged snacks with healthy fruit that is purchased “loose” and some buy snacks from local bulk food stores.   Thanks EthicalJobs.com.au and Metis Engineering Ltd for being part of the solution. For more inspiration, we’ve got plenty of ideas on our website! 🌍https://lnkd.in/g7Ftz7q    #PlasticFreeJuly #ChooseToRefuse #PFJ #PlasticFreeJuly2024 #reduceplasticwaste #plasticavoidance #PlasticFreeFoundation #SmallStepsBigDifference

  • 🌍🌱 Shoutout to Brunel Foundation for their inspiring commitment to sustainability during Plastic Free July! Once again, staff from the global recruitment company, headquartered in the Netherlands, made a real impact by reducing single-use plastics across their workplace as well as in daily life. By switching to reusable lunch boxes and water bottles from Mepal | Certified B Corp, the team took simple yet powerful steps to cut down plastic waste. These simple switches encourage a culture of sustainability and sets an example of how small actions can create new habits and lead to big change.🌿 Together, let’s continue building eco-friendly habits for a cleaner, greener world without plastic waste. 💚 Huge thanks to Brunel for being part of the solution and participating in Plastic Free July, and to Mepal for providing the durable, sustainable alternatives to single-use plastic. 💪 #PlasticFreeJuly #ChooseToRefuse #PFJ #PlasticFreeJuly2024 #reduceplasticwaste #plasticavoidance #PlasticFreeFoundation #SmallStepsBigDifference
