We’re delivering a 3.8MW solar farm and 4.8MW of grid stabilising battery storage for Mineral Resources Limited’s Ken’s Bore mine site near Onslow in WA’s West Pilbara. The solar and BESS are expected to offset around 95 terajoules of natural gas per year, cutting associated emissions by around 4,990 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. The construction phase will be wrapping up in the next couple of months, and we expect the equipment to be fully operational in early 2025. Our 24MW solar farm and 13MW battery energy storage system at AngloGold Ashanti Australia and Regis Resources Ltd’s Tropicana gold mine in Western Australia are now fully commissioned and producing power! The solar and BESS make up an important part of our Tropicana renewables expansion project, which is converting our existing gas power station into Australia’s largest off-grid hybrid system. The final phase of the project also involves the installation and commissioning of four 6MW wind turbines. At Pacific Energy, our vertically integrated service delivery model means we can design and manufacture all of our BESS and PCUs in-house, enabling us to deliver the highest quality products that can respond specifically to each clients’ needs, whether that’s grid stabilising, energy shifting or a mixture of both. Solar energisation and BESS commissioning mark another really important milestone in this flagship project, which we expect to be fully wrapped up in early 2025, when power generated by the wind turbines is integrated into the system. #solar #solarpower #bigbatteries #energytransition

A well-deserved win! This award recognises our portfolio company Pacific Energy for its achievements in strategically pivoting to grow its #renewable and hybrid power solutions for remotely located customers across Australia.   IJGlobal judges acknowledged their focus on #ESG impact, with one judge stating “Pacific Energy demonstrates multiple ongoing changes in a sector that can be hard to decarbonise. It has achieved significant impact as – at acquisition – renewables and hybrid accounted for approximately 2% of Pacific Energy’s contracted capacity. Today, renewables and hybrid energy systems represent over 70% of this portfolio.”

Our Managing Director Connected Energy, Mark Sinclair welcomed Victoria’s Minister for Energy, Lily D’Ambrosio MP and industry guests to our annual All Energy Australia sundowner in Melbourne this week. Mark took a few moments to discuss our east coast offering and our commitment to expanding our Melbourne-based facilities, which will see us offering stand-alone power systems, battery storage systems and hydrogen integrated solutions for NEM customers and Australia’s hydrogen mobility sector. Minister D’Ambrosio echoed the importance of establishing local capabilities and reaffirmed the Victorian Government’s commitment to upskilling the workforce and streamlining renewable energy policy to ensure the sector, and the state, can make a smooth transition to a low emissions future. Our east coast assets and pipeline of projects will enable us to double our Victorian workforce by the middle of next year, setting us up to be the go-to partner Australia-wide for clients seeking reliable energy transition solutions. Our first 6MW wind turbine has been safely and successfully installed at AngloGold Ashanti Australia’s Tropicana gold mine. This giant stands at more than 210 metres tall from footings to blade tip and is the first of four Goldwind turbines we’re installing as a part of our Tropicana renewables expansion. The blades are capable of rotating at speeds of 10.7 revolutions per minute, generating clean energy that, together with 24MW of solar, will help slash the mine’s carbon emissions by an average of 65,000 tonnes each year. The Tropicana renewables expansion project is the biggest renewables integration we’ve worked on so far, and when completed, it’ll be Australia’s largest off-grid hybrid power system. We’re partnering with GOLD FIELDS to deliver our biggest solar farm yet! The 35MW array is a part of the Gold Fields-managed St Ives Renewables Project, a landmark A$296 million energy transition project that will power the St Ives gold mine in WA’s Eastern Goldfields. The solar farm will complement Gold Fields’ 42MW of wind power to meet nearly half of the power system’s 70% renewable energy target. Together, the renewables will cut the mine’s carbon emissions by nearly 50% by 2030. Like all of our #cleanenergy solutions, the St Ives solar farm has been designed in house and with scalability in mind, to ensure our client’s renewable energy investment can continue to grow into the future. At Pacific Energy, we're at the forefront of developing hydrogen infrastructure that’s paving the way for Australia’s zero-emissions transport future. Our local team is integrating and commissioning the Nel Hydrogen PEM electrolyser as part of Viva Energy Australia’s H2 refuelling station in Geelong. The facility will support hydrogen-powered vehicles including trucks, buses, waste management vehicles and privately owned FCEVs. It’s just another example of how we’re becoming Australia’s leading provider of clean energy solutions. #energytransition #netzero #hydrogen #local

Here’s a sneak peek at the artist renderings of the hydrogen mobility project we’re building at the Viva Energy Hub, featuring publicly accessible hydrogen refuelling and EV charging stations for Geelong. This facility will support a diverse fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles in road freight, public transport, municipal waste management, and more. It will also offer ultra-fast EV charging in drive-through truck bays, suitable for BEVs coming to the market larger than a standard passenger car. Backed by a $34 million grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and $1 million from the Victorian Government via the Renewable Hydrogen Commercialisation Pathways Fund, we’re demonstrating the crucial roles hydrogen and EV charging together can play in decarbonising our industries in Australia, along with our partners ComfortDelGro Australia (CDC), Toll Group, Cleanaway Waste Management, and Barwon Water. Our hydrogen will be generated from renewable energy and recycled water, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of heavy vehicles. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to transform sustainable transport in Australia! 🚛🔋 #HydrogenEnergy #SustainableTransport #VivaEnergy #Geelong #RenewableEnergy
