Last month, we gathered more than 400 of our team from stores, customer fulfilment centres, support centres and customer service centre, for our annual Year Beginning Meeting in Melbourne. The agenda was jam-packed full of reflection, celebration, learning, connecting and future-gazing. In the spirit of our 30th birthday, we recognised team members who have been with Officeworks or Wesfarmers since 1994, with a hall of fame at the Officeworks Team Awards (OTAs). Its events like these that remind us just how special our Officeworks team is. A heartfelt thank you to all our team members who spent time away from their regular day-to-days and loved ones to join us at the event. We look forward to sharing more about the event, those who helped bring it to life and our award winners in the coming days and weeks. #Officeworks 💙

Yesterday we launched the Literacy is Freedom Appeal, our annual fundraiser with long-standing partner The Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation (ALNF). Funds raised this year will contribute to ALNF’s ‘Early Language and Literacy’ and ‘Share a Book’ programs, which provide life-changing support to improve literacy levels of Indigenous and marginalised children to ensure they’re ready for school, no matter their circumstances. Ahead of Father’s Day this Sunday, we thought we’d share a story of a father-daughter duo from our Cairns store in Far North Queensland. Alana Elian has worked with Officeworks for 20 years and is currently the Store Business Manager at Officeworks Cairns. Her dad, Richard, has more than 40 years' retail experience and has been with Officeworks for two years, working in replenishment, alongside Alana in our Cairns store. Alana said she loves being able to pick her dad’s brain about store operations given his significant experience in the industry and that her dad has always been her biggest supporter in life. “Above all else, he is a great poppy to my two boys who will be the next generation to work for Officeworks, or as my son calls it, Poppyworks!” We wish a happy Father’s Day to those celebrating this weekend, and a gentle day to anyone who finds it a challenging time. #Officeworks 💙

Officeworks is proud of the inclusive and accepting environment that we have created for our customers and our team members, but we are not proud of the experience that a Jewish customer experienced back in March this year. Please see a statement from our Managing Director, Sarah Hunter.  

For the second year running, as part of our partnership with the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), Officeworks has supported the Top Arts showcase of outstanding works by Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) students. Aptly named the ‘Officeworks Creativity Award’, it recognises the most creative use of materials within an exhibiting artist’s work. This year’s winner was Wurun Senior Campus student Maya Donaldson, pictured here with our General Manager Customer and Online, Jessica Richmond at the closing event for the Top Arts 2024 exhibition. With the Paris 2024 Olympic Games kicking off this Friday, we’d like to do a special shout out to one of our team members, Georgia Courage-Gardiner, who will be competing in artistic swimming (formerly known as synchronized swimming) 🏊♀️ Now 21 years old, Georgia fell in-love with the sport whilst watching the London 2012 Olympic Games at age nine, saying: “It’s like ballet and gymnastics in the water. It’s a combination of grace and beauty, with strength and athleticism.” Georgia represented Australia at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games and has been in full-time training for the past 18 months in Perth in the lead up to Paris. She has been part of the Officeworks family since 2020, and currently works at our Subiaco store in WA. Georgia, we wish you all the very best for Paris - we’ll be cheering you on proudly! #Officeworks 💚💛
