  • Thousands of motorsport fans embraced the raw energy of the 2024 betr Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round over the weekend. There was nearly 40,000 attendances at Hidden Valley Raceway from 14-16 June. As with every event our partnerships are key and we worked closely with them to deliver a unique and exciting experience that keeps fans coming back year after year. Working in collaboration with Supercars we delivered an unforgettable five days of action including an Australian-first Track to Town. It was a sight to behold as 25 Supercars roared through the CBD before stopping to meet fans for a signing session. We are always striving to push our events further and the addition of Track to Town brought a new level of excitement and interaction for both teams, and fans. Teams embraced the official Supercars Indigenous Round with every single Supercars and several vehicles from other categories wrapped in liveries featuring artwork by Indigenous artists. There was also a rousing Welcome to Country and national anthem by The Youth Mill on Sunday and a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony on Wednesday at the Night Transporter Convoy. Racing Together, an Indigenous youth racing team travelled from Brisbane to compete in the Combined Sedans category. This year also saw racing teams and fans alike embrace the Top End’s stunning winter weather by exploring tourism offerings such as meeting a croc or two, and immersing in nature at Litchfield and Kakadu National Parks. We can’t wait to welcome fans back to the Darwin Triple Crown in 2025!

You don’t have to be in the events industry to know that it’s a tough time for music festivals in Australia at the moment. So the fact that the Territory was able to deliver an epic nearly sold-out BASSINTHEGRASS event featuring 42 local and international acts (the most ever) to an almost-sold-out crowd this weekend is a brilliant achievement. Thank you to the hundreds of people who made this major event a major success – the NT Major Events Company team who pour in equal amounts of passion, expertise and creative thinking into development and delivery; the remarkable Russell Temple and SRO Group; and everyone involved in the safe and smooth running of the event. Once again the Territory has stepped up to the events plate and hit it out of the park! It’s a coup! I’m so excited to let you know that Darwin has secured the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) in an Australian exclusive. It is a terrific partnership between NT Major Events, MXGP rights-holder Infront Moto Racing backed by the NT Government with Motorcycling Australia as a key partner. It’s been 24 years since this adrenalin-fuelled major event has been held in Australia and NT Major Events will be delivering the championship from next year until 2029. I’m also very pleased to share that this will be the first time the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship will be held in Australia. We know this will have a remarkable impact on the NT economy and tourism, the sport, and further boost the Territory’s sporting reputation. It’s expected to attract thousands of attendees, and millions of viewers globally who will not only get to see some very exciting motocross but also see and experience the beauty of the Top End from Aboriginal culture to stunning sunsets and food scene. • Meet the champion of Million Dollar Fish Season 9! The Million Dollar Fish may be gone, but the memories and the competition will live on. Take a look at this awesome clip where we chat with Territorian Keegan Payne on how it feels to be the lucky angler who reeled in the life-changing red-tagged barramundi in Season 9. Keegan loves fishing in the Top End, and won't stop even while he makes plans for what he does with his million-dollar prize! Congratulations Keegan and a big thank you to everyone for making Season 9 truly unforgettable.

  • In-case you missed it, Million Dollar Fish has helped make a lucky fisho a millionaire. Nineteen-year-old Keegan Wayne from Katherine NT has snagged the catch of a lifetime, reeling in the prized million-dollar barra. Keegan Payne was on a fishing trip with one of his sisters and a friend in the early hours of Sunday morning at Katherine River when he reeled in the fish, calling the hotline at 1am. Congratulations to Keegan and his family and thanks to all those who have taken part in Season 9 of Million Dollar Fish. Australia’s richest fishing competition is delivered by NT Major Events Company and supported by SportsBet.

  • We are proud to deliver the spectacular Parrtjima – A Festival in Light, which opens tonight from 6pm at Desert Park in Alice Springs.   We’re thrilled to be welcoming guests from all over the nation to this free, all-ages event in the cultural heart of Australia. The program promises 10 nights of fantastic entertainment under star-studded desert skies and celebrates this year’s theme, the importance of interconnectedness across Indigenous culture.   Our CEO, Suzana Bishop, recently touched on the significance of the festival to the Northern Territory: "Our events' impact extends far beyond economic stimulus. While Parrtjima undeniably generates significant economic benefits for the region, its influence transcends financial metrics." Parrtjima’s famous large-scale light installations will appear more brilliant than ever and a range of brand new installations are set to wow visitors of all ages.         We hope to see you there!
