It was lovely to gather Newcastle Airport, Astra Aerolab and Daracon Group staff to celebrate the amazing achievement that is the Williamtown Drive project! And what a beautiful outdoor space at Astra Aerolab!
Yesterday was a day of celebration at the Astra Aerolab precinct. We’ve officially completed the Williamtown Drive and Nelson Bay Road Intersection upgrades- a key component of our International Expansion Project To mark this milestone, we joined forces with the Property and Infrastructure team and Daracon Group for a well-deserved celebration lunch. Our airport entrance is now fully revamped with: Dual lanes in both directions. New overhead signage. A scenic bicycle and walking path connecting to the Astra Aerolab precinct. This new path offers access to nature trails, an outdoor gym, and picnic areas. EGM Planning & Infrastructure, Ben Kochanski thanked the Planning and Infrastructure team for their excellent delivery and expressed gratitude to Daracon for their professionalism and skilled completion of the project on time with zero safety or traffic incidents to report. "The intersection upgrades and new signage significantly improves traffic flow to and from the airport and enhances safety for all road users, especially with traffic volumes expected to rise when the international terminal opens mid next year.
