Montefiore is thrilled to have received a 2024 Australian Future of Ageing Award and be selected as a finalist in two further categories.   Our Clinical Education team were rewarded in the ‘People & Culture category – Program to Address Any Knowledge Gaps Among Nursing and Care Staff.’ In August 2023, the Clinical Education team launched a comprehensive program to address knowledge gaps among nursing and care staff, particularly for junior nurses who graduated during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and missed out on clinical experience opportunities. The program has been enormously successful in elevating care standards, enhancing professional reputation, and assuring best practices in care quality and staff development. Congratulations to the team!   A further congratulations to the teams nominated in the Service Transformation category – Admissions Salesforce Application, implementing a new program to streamline the admissions process, and the Technology category – Digital Dietary Platform, a program transforming the management and communication of dietary information for residents.

Montefiore is celebrating Speech Pathology Week, highlighting the vital work our Speech Pathology team do to support residents in their communication, eating, and drinking – all essential to overall good health and wellbeing. Part of our 120+ strong Allied Health team, Montefiore’s Speech Pathologists work one-on-one with residents to provide recommendations for texture modification of foods and fluids, development of specific seating, feeding recommendations to swallow safety, and personalised strategies for improved communication. This week, all staff had the opportunity to try some of the modified foods available to residents and to talk to the Speech Pathology team to better understand strategies around feeding and swallowing safety. #CommunicateYourWay

With the Olympics just gone and the Paralympics starting today, Randwick residents got into the spirit of the games with their own Olympics tournament – there was cheering, friendly competition, and gold medals all around. Montefiore’s Leisure & Lifestyle team run 30+ weekly activities for residents, and regularly come up with topical and engaging activities like the Olympics tournament. These activities are all about encouraging socialisation, movement, and supporting residents in their overall physical and mental wellbeing, just one of the ways Montefiore provides industry-leading care to older members of our community.

Montefiore has an fantastic opportunity for a Client Engagement Therapies Manager to join our Allied Health Department. Today we are saying ‘thank you for caring’ in honour of Aged Care Employee Day. Every day, Montefiore’s 1200 staff across Randwick, Hunters Hill and Woollahra give their all to support residents to live with choice, dignity and wellbeing.
