We had a great experience at the recent All Energy Australia conference. Our resident Virtual Power Plant expert, Luc van Duinen spoke to the crowd of industry folks about harnessing the potential of Virtual Power Plants. He outlined how Momentum’s VPP works and its clever features – and we filmed it, so you don’t miss a thing. It’s great if you were ever curious about hearing about VPPs in action. And if you’d like to skip to a specific case study that could be relevant to your type of assets, we’ve time coded them below: 3:04 Controllable load – How we shed load to take advantage of spot price rises. 4:58 Battery storage system (behind the meter) – How discharging and charging a solar battery at prime times made $3500 in one day. 7:30 Battery storage (merchant example) – Using quick reactions to maximise value on even a fairly average day. 8:38 Air-conditioning control – How a relatively small air-con unit made around $1000 in a day without compromising comfort levels.

Momentum Energy is owned by Hydro Tasmania, Australia’s largest generator of renewable energy.
About us
Hi. We’re Momentum Energy. You might’ve heard of us, but we know energy can be a little dry, so we don’t blame you if you haven’t. You’ve probably got your mind on other, more interesting things (it’s okay, you can say it). We’re an Australian energy company with a mission to make energy more human. Because it’s something we all use, so we should all understand it too. All that starts with our people. People who have big (and small, come to think of it) ideas about how we can do energy better. We’re also owned by Hydro Tasmania. They’re the country’s biggest renewable energy generator. So when we say we’re for renewables (and that we have cool parents), we really mean it.

A decade ago, if you tried to talk about sustainable design at a dinner party, it would’ve probably put your friends to sleep. Today, it seems like everyone is looking for ways to improve their home’s energy efficiency, and Passive Houses are becoming increasingly popular. Heard the term Passive House but not really sure what it means? Find out in the latest podcast from our friends The Design Files. In this episode, they connect with Passivehaus builder Mark Van Haandel of MVH Constructions to hear how this voluntary sustainable building standard is leading the way – creating homes that use up to 90% less energy than a typical build. Just one of many reasons to love the Passivehaus movement. Get the full story and find links to the Podcast here - https://buff.ly/3YefIL8.

Next time you're switching energy providers, scanning the market for the cheapest deal, it’s important to ask yourself what you’re supporting. Just like slow fashion or ethical investing which choose not to support certain industries and practices, electricity retailers can vary widely in terms of how they use their profits. Here’s the Guardian to step you through how to buy your energy in a way that aligns with your ethics, so your energy bill can be part of the solution. For Saul Griffith, Australia’s clean energy future is already within reach — if only the right people would get on board. As an engineer and inventor, he’s worked in renewable energy and electrification for the last 30 years and written two books on the topic. In the last few years, he realised that technology ‘isn’t the barrier anymore’ to solving key issues connected to climate change. ‘It’s just policy and it’s finance and public education,’ Saul says in the latest episode of TDF Talks. This is what inspired his mission to ‘electrify everything’ and rewire Australia — but how? Hear what he has to say in the latest podcast from our friends The Design Files. https://lnkd.in/gQ7CNqyv

What do you get a kick out of? For us, it’s helping our clients meet their sustainability goals. Yep, we’re weird like that. And when it’s for a business like JobLink Plus (a not-for-profit employment services provider serving communities throughout regional NSW) the kicks are even better. JobLink came to us looking for a way to help meet their sustainability targets and we found the perfect answer – a CPPA linked to Granville Harbour Wind Farm in Tasmania. A solution they found simple and affordable. ‘Like many organisations we’re looking for the best ways to bring our environment, social and governance commitments to life, with real action and tangible benefits for both the organisation and the community,’ said Joblink Plus CEO Christine Shrewry. ‘Momentum brought a solution to the table that we’re proud to be a part of.’ Aww, shucks.
