About us

Since 1970 Melbourne Airport has been Victoria’s gateway to the world, operating curfew-free, 24 hours per day, seven days a week. We are one of Australia’s premier transport hubs situated on an estate of 2,400 hectares. The greater Melbourne Airport precinct offers significant aeronautical infrastructure, a large business park and extensive road networks. The airport is located 22 kilometres northwest of Melbourne’s central business district and is well connected to the city’s freeway and arterial road network. Plans are progressing for a rail link connecting the airport to the suburban rail network via Sunshine. The airport is close to major industrial areas and serves as a hub for freight and logistics, while providing employment to thousands of residents in nearby suburban growth corridors. Melbourne is growing and Melbourne Airport is too. We expect to welcome more than 60 million travellers per year by 2033, and more than 14,000 people currently work at the airport, in industries as diverse as aviation, hospitality, freight and logistics, transport and retail. As we welcome more employees, travellers, and business partners to the airport, it’s important to be clear on our vision, purpose, and values. At Melbourne Airport, our vision is to be Australia’s favourite airport destination and we achieve this through our purpose which is to create connections that matter every day. Our values are: Be you. We celebrate diversity and earn the trust of our team and stakeholders by acting with integrity. Think big. We are visionary, with the courage to innovate and achieve our goals. Own it. We are results driven, make savvy decisions and take responsibility for our actions. Work together. We work together and communicate openly to achieve shared goals. If you are interested in working for Melbourne Airport please visit our Career Centre via our website.

Melbourne Airport is proud to support Victoria's record exports. We now have three times the number of dedicated international freighter flights than in 2019 plus record cargo capacity in the hold of international aircraft. Victoria’s total exports increased by 3.6 per cent in the June quarter – taking exports to a record $17.6 billion. This growth highlights the critical role our curfew-free operations play in Victoria’s economy, with the average daily international flight worth $154 million to the state. Melbourne Airport’s planned third runway is designed to help keep pace with Victoria’s growing population and to support our state’s key industries. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Victorian State Government to further expand international airline capacity, strengthening cargo operations, and increasing local jobs. #MelbourneAirport #Aviation #Cargo #Export #Capacity

We are pleased to announce a major milestone in the Naarm Way Stage 2 project. This week, our team began lifting beams into place at Ramp 2, marking a significant step forward in the development of this critical infrastructure. Once completed, Naarm Way will: - Make access to all terminals smoother and faster. - Make it easier for travellers to find the right terminal with a more direct and hassle-free route to all terminals. - Support future passenger growth as Victoria grows The first 5 of a total 35 Super-T beams have been successfully installed, with the remaining beams to follow in the coming days and weeks. This installation represents one of the final major structural elements of the project. With the beams in place, we will soon progress to building the bridge deck and installing parapets, ultimately connecting the southern side of the ramp to Naarm Way. We are proud of the progress our team has made and look forward to see this essential infrastructure come to life. #MelbourneAirport #NaarmWay #ProjectMilestone #Infrastructure

This week, we proudly celebrated Wear It Purple Day, a significant event dedicated to creating a supportive, safe, empowering, and inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ youth and the broader community. The 2024 theme, ‘Your Passion, Your Pride,’ celebrates LGBTQIA+ individuals openly and visibly achieving their dreams. To honour this, we hosted three forum sessions where our team members had the opportunity to hear from APAC Pride committee members (our Pride group), delve into why this day is so important, and learn about our new People Central module, ‘Allyship in Action.’ These sessions provided a valuable space for team members to ask LGBTQIA+ related questions they may have had but were unsure where to find answers. This initiative reinforces our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. A big thank you to APAC Pride for their continued efforts to remind us of the ongoing work needed to combat discrimination, both globally and at Melbourne Airport. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of celebration, education, belonging, support, and respect. #MelbourneAirport #WearItPurple #YourPassionYourPride #Inclusion #Diversity

Exciting news! Juneyao Airlines has announced plans to launch direct flights between Melbourne Airport and Shanghai, starting on 19 December. The service will operate three times per week, before increasing to daily services in January and February, using their flagship Boeing 787-9. The airline's arrival will put Melbourne Airport’s mainland Chinese seat capacity above pre-pandemic levels. This addition means more international carriers will now serve Melbourne Airport than ever before, highlighting the need for our investment in projects such as the international baggage system upgrade and third runway. These upgrades will ensure we’re ready for future growth and offer more choices for travellers. #melbourneairport #airlinenews #aviation #juneyaoairlines #shanghai

Have you ever wondered what happens to the spare change you drop in our donation boxes at the airport? Our Melbourne Airport Chaplain, Martyn Scrimshaw, shares the powerful impact behind these small acts of kindness. One of the ways your donations help is by supporting passengers in need, including women and non-binary people who are fleeing domestic violence. Thanks to those contributions, the Chaplaincy has been able to donate $10,000 to the Car Park Sleepout fundraiser, supporting McAuley and Juno. If you'd like to make a difference, please join us on Thursday, 05 September, for a night on the roof of the Terminal 4 car park. Your donation will go to Juno and McAuley organisations, supporting the thousands who live like this each night. Last night, a special dinner event in Chengdu, China, brought together our CEO Lorie Argus and esteemed aviation industry leaders for an evening of networking, highlighting our commitment to building relationships, fostering collaboration, and creating connections that matter. Lorie highlighted the remarkable partnership between Melbourne Airport and Chengdu International Airport, which began with Sichuan Airlines' direct service between Chengdu and Melbourne in 2013. This route has connected our vibrant cultures and has also generated substantial economic benefits through trade and tourism. During the evening, we proudly showcased our newly launched WeChat Mini Program, reflecting our dedication to enhancing communication and engagement with our Chinese airline partners and travellers. We are excited to continue driving growth and success through these vital connections and collaborations, benefiting both regions.
